JSN ran 4.48 to 4.52 . That is good enough to quell fears . The Bears at 10 makes sense . McCalister , who came over with Knowles from Okie St, because he knew how to play S in the former Big Red HC’s Dr. Strangelove D, ran a 4.4. That Defense is supposedly very difficult for safeties to play . Frankly I am not sure McCalister played all that well . But Hickman is a guy who might surprise . And Brown, the oft-injured corner announced to the world that he was going to run a 4.3. Don’t think he did .
to pair up next to Dex and Williams. Like the nacho DT move--feel better there with the depth upfront but we need another animal to attack the LOS. We have edge LBs now and we have the guy in the middle. Need that horse at DE.

why would the Bears take JSN at 9 when they recently traded a 2nd round pick for Chase Claypool, and when they just gave up their #1 selection for more draft picks and DJ Moore?

The problem with that is you're talking about what is essentially the 3rd inside defensive lineman. They just don't get the snap percentage to warrant a huge investment.
Sure that player could spell the top interior rushers on passing downs, but you're talking about a guy who realistically wouldnt see 50% of the snaps. It's the same issues with off ball linebackers.
(To be clear I agree with you by the way, I'd love another stud on that IDL group and it could do wonders for this defense).

Giants made a point last year to talk about how Brandon Brown and Tim McDonnell stood on the table for Daniel Bellinger.
