and if im reading all this right, even though he's mostly played as a backup he has experience at all 3 interior spots and hasn't given up a sack at either of bama/pitt. he's taken more nfl snaps than jack anderson and given up fewer snaps, so i guess that's a positive.





in between in 2018 he was on atlanta's practice squad and in 2019 he played for the birmingham iron before getting signed by pitt in 2020.

We’ve tried to turn Guards into Centers over the past few years with middling results. Gates seemed like he could of turned into a pretty darn good Center, but they just had to use him at Guard! Anyway, this guy looks like he’s had decent enough results at the position to warrant a signing. Not sure he’d be the starter, and I do hope we draft somebody in the first two days of the draft as there’s a few very good OC in this class. Let’s find someone now to anchor that line, ala Kelce, for the next ten years and not have to worry about that position!

I agree but we did bring in Billy Price who was an actual Center. That didn't work out so good... lol

Let's not set ourselves on fire when he jumps to the top of the depth chart after signing his minimum-salary contract. The process at center is just beginning.
