2023 NFL Draft NYG draft prospects all 7 rounds (long)

shocktheworld : 3/23/2023 2:11 am
As we get closer to the draft, the offseason picture is starting to clear up after the initial surge of FA.

We may add a few more FA's (hopefully), but I think the main acquisitions are done for now.

With that said, I've listed 10 prospects (each round) that could be playing in blue next year.

NOT an exhaustive list, of course, but good solid players we could realistically have a shot at each pick/round.

I'll list my "mock" at the end, but this exercise's intention is to start good discussions amongst BBI, not give my vision for the team.

We have a chance to add 10 really good players, and I can't wait for year 2 under Joe/Dabs.

I use NFL Mock Draft Simulator for my mock's and will be using their rankings (round by round) to select the players...I know, I know, "no way player X falls to pick Y" or the opposite opinion, either way I wanted to pick a singular source for the rankings, so send any complaints to their website :0)

I will use different websites/sources for actual player breakdowns, highlights etc, but again this exercise is for pure discussion and to potentially help out any BBI'ers that don't nerd out on the draft like me :)

Hopefully this is helpful to some...and if not, oh well.
Go Giants!! Fun time to be a fan, finally!

*YES, THIS TOOK MORE HOURS TO CREATE THAN I'D LIKE TO ADMIT*

Sorry, it's quite a lot of info, but again, if it helps discussion around the draft, then it was worth all the coding/finger pecking...Cheers!! :)

Good work here Shock…
Not only does this exercise show there will be good choices for each pick, it looks like there will be trade down opportunities.
Wouldn’t mind adding extra picks as this draft unfolds.
I m saving this and will use it during the draft. Thanks

Shock for this work. I dont follow CFB like some of you. But this time of year I read and watch highlights all I can about prospects and come up with my own favorites.

This will be very handy around draft tie. I hope you repost on draft day.

Benton could be Lawrence's eventual replacement (though this year maybe a year or two too early, hopefully).

My pleasure buddy, Brenton Cox has all the talent to be a top flight player, but he was kicked of Florida this past season for throwing a punch during a game...not sure how deep the issues go, but if he can mature emotionally...steal in the area of the draft

There is one player...
2ndroundKO : 3/23/2023 10:11 am : link
I never see mentioned who I can't imagine the Giants aren't scouting closely: Rashee Rice, WR, SMU.

Rice reminds me of Hakeem Nicks. a strong, explosive 6-1, 204 with sticky hands, a big catch radius, RAC ability and plays faster than his timed speed. In fact, both ran a 4.51 at the Combine. Rice battled a toe injury throughout 2022 yet finished with 96 catches, an SMU record 1,355 yards and 10 TDs.

The Giants sent Schoen, Daboll, Kafka, Wink and Jerome Henderson to the Senior Bowl where Rice got off to a slow start and struggled at times but improved considerably by week's end. And 28 teams were at SMU's Pro Day although I don't know if the Giants were among them. Rice is projected to go between rounds 1 and 2 and I can't fathom him not being on their radar.

There are a couple good Rice highlights on YT, here's one of them. Rice should be in this conversation.

Rice kinda disappointed me during Senior Bowl, but I think you are spot on with the similarities between Nicks and Rice. I wouldn't be mad if we took Rice in round 3, he is a very intriguing talent
For sure, shock, that is one impressive body of work

How the draft work
Colin@gbn : 3/23/2023 1:18 pm : link
Shock: A very impressive body of work and I hope people hang onto it for the draft especially the latter rounds. The one issue I would have is that I suspect your underlying assumption that the Giants will be taking a BPA at #25 just isn't how teams actually approach the draft. In fact, they either go into the draft looking at 2-3 particular players they really like or they go into the draft targeting a specific position.

My sense here is that the Giants already pretty much know what they want to do with the #1 pick and that's get THE best receiver option they can. That's in fact the way teams draft. And the only real question is whether they will be comfortable thinking that who gets to 25 will fit the bill or will they have to trade up. The problem with JSN is that is very likely to go to Houston at #12 which may be too rich to jump. So does Flowers emerge as a 2-3 option.

And they will likely do the same in the second round, although it is not quite as clear which particular position will be the target although either a CB or defensive line would be a pretty good guess. And if you wanted a sleeper type position how about the OL and NO not C. But more a swing G/T type like Cody Mauch who would give you a little insurance if Neal doesn't pick up his game because if he doesn't you just can't leave him out there! and with a guy like Mauch you get a versatile player who coyuld also play and start at both C and OG if need be (although not necessarily at the same time!)

As I have said elsewhere, Mauch is really high on my short list if Gonzalez, Witherspoon, Porter, Addison, JSN, and Hyatt are off the board. That also assumes nobody unexpected falls to our pick.
