why go to a team where you may end up being the #2 or the #3? Take a reasonable deal and go to a team where you'll be the #1 guy. Doing a one year deal and showing that you are still capable of being the #1 guy for an offense would be better long term than becoming another bit player.
Everything he does is great. Nevermind his Bechton or Zach Wilson pick. The way he hit a homerun last draft with 20 picks in that draft, Jets are going to be great next year. The way GM Douglas/Rodgers and coach Saleh/Rodgers are building this team is genius. I am sure Brandon Tierney is on his knees already.

He’s probably looking for his last contract since the reinjury and/or poor performance risk is high. Not sure a 1 year prove it deal has enough upside for him to risk more guaranteed money now.

I think he is looking for max $$. Not sure he'd take a 1 year deal unless it was for big money or if nobody goes after him and he doesn't get a big offer.
They are going to get 1 year, 1 shot to win the SB. Load up with as much as you can. If they win- great! Afterwards, they are going to be screwed for 5-10 years, but they are not thinking along the lines of "sustained success".

Don't forget his masterful job of fixing the offensive line. The Jets still need two tackles and a center. Their big FA signing last year was Laken Tomlinson who was awful for them last season.
for the Jets will be that they are going to find out that their defense isn't as good as they think. Teams went conservative on offense against them because they knew the Jets couldn't score.
fun of the Jets and all, but OBJ as the #2/3 WR isn't a bad move on a prove it deal. Yeah, he'll bring the circus with him, but the last time we saw him in the 2021 postseason, he was really good when there were other WRs taking the attention (24 catches for 288 and 2 TDs in 3.5 postseason games).
They haven't lost anything of real note except Sheldon Rankins, and Lazard for Davis is an upgrade at the WR2 spot (Lazard also an elite blocker), and OBJ will take over the WR3 role. If Breece and Vera-Tucker come back healthy, it's a strong O unit (especially with an OL addition in round 1). If they get Rodgers, it might be the best D he's played with in 10 years.
BB'56 - Why do you say that? Interested to hear your viewpoint.
It would mean I’d no longer be concerned as a fan, that this media hog/whore would disrupt a finally staid lockerroom that Daboll has created..I don’t care about whatever talent he still may have.

What makes you think OBJ is willing to play on a “ prove it” deal? He’s looking for big money. Even if it’s only a one year deal it’s likely to be north of $10M. He’s already made his feelings known about the $4M offers he’s apparently gotten
was on the reported wish list Aaron Rodgers provided to Joe Douglas, as reported by Diana Russini. A report Rodgers later attempted to discredit on his Pat McAfee show appearance:
“From what I’ve seen, I had a sheet of paper when I met with the Jets and said sign these people,” Rodgers said. “That’s not the reality.”
The other two players in the Russini report were Randall Cobb and Marcedes Lewis.
Cobb would be 33 in August, Lewis will soon turn 39. I think even Douglas would have his limits on how far he'll go to appease Rodgers.

Rodgers said it was a BS story. The Jets gave him a list of guys and asked if Rodgers liked them. Rodgers didn't mention any names to the Jets. Rodgers also won't talk to any writers so he says anything they say doesn't come from him. He's def helping to show that the media BS's more often than not.
RE: Are the Jets still negotiating with the Packers?
At this point, there's no turning back for the Jets. The Packers know this. They have the Jets by the balls.
No Kmed, according to the media and a few posters I respect but disagree with, the Jets will be gifted Rodgers as they have the leverage.
I am with you, GB should hold steady.
Lol my friend who is a jets fan said that the NFL will force the Packers to trade him to the Jets and they give up nothing more than a conditional 4th rounder
At this point, there's no turning back for the Jets. The Packers know this. They have the Jets by the balls.
My dream scenario is that after the Jets do all of this bending over for Rodgers the Packers get pissed because the Jets refuse to give their 13th overall pick and open negotiations with San Fran or another team. Just tell Rodgers that he has 3 choices. Play for the Packers, play for another team not named the Jets or retire.
I want the Jets arrogance humbled. They actually think they have all the leverage. I’m hoping it bites them right in the ass

Yup 100%
RE: RE: I would like to know how the Jets have any leverage.
What happens if they can't agree. Will Rodgers play for GB? If not, they don't pay him. If so, they have their all-timer back for another run.
What happens to the Jets? Either they become a shit show with Wilson or they go get Lamar and become a shitshow.
Baltimore can match any offer for Lamar so even if the Jets want him it’s not their choice. Which is hysterical
??? I doubt they would match a fully guarentee'd monster offer. jets could really fuck bmore and tbh, what are they waiting for? they should be going super all in. THEY STINK!
but to go after Lamar if they can't get Rodgers. Going into the season with Wilson as the QB can't happen. Not after every single person in Jets land said they were a QB away and Wilson wasnt respected in the lockerroom.

I don't know, I'm just going by the simple market economics. Doesn't seem like there's strong interest in him out there. Even if it's a higher dollar 1 year incentive laden deal, I don't think that's the worst case for either party. Jets best players are all cost controlled for this year (Breece, Wilson, Sauce, Quinnen, AVT), and if you can fit him in for a one year gamble it's worth the risk to me. It's not like they're dependent on his success, they have Wilson and Lazard above him on the depth chart. If he plays his role like he did in LAR as the 3rd option he can be successful.
Just my thoughts.
