sweeney was a bubble player for buffalo last year in the roster cuts who was talked about a lot as a nyg option if he got cut (he obviously didnt).

These are the kind of signings the Giants hit on last season, squeezing juice out of VSB and vet minimum deals by leaning on a shared vision between coaching staff and personnel department.

Tommy Sweeney has absolutely no impact on what players we draft. Honestly I'd say the same thing about basically every free agent we signed except make Okereke. These 1 year deals we are giving aren't preventing us from drafting a player.

Sweeney is “Just a Guy”. The nice thing about this signing is that Sweeney sets a floor under the backup “Y” TE behind Bellinger, so they don’t have to force a pick to fill a small role. Still, if there’s value late on Day 3, I hope Sweeney wouldn’t deter them from drafting a better blocker with more upside.
… about three weeks before the first Emergency Use Authorization for any COVID-19 vaccine. Unless Sweeney broke into a Pfizer lab, any connection between the vaccine and his heart condition seems highly unlikely. Did Cole Beasley or some other idiot claim the two things were related?

I can guarantee that this doesn't affect their draft plans. Sweeney and Cager are replaceable and if the Giants find a TE that is BPA on day 3 then they will not hesitate to select him.

Actually it was.
Unless he was in a clinical trial (highly doubtful) it actually wasn’t- unless he missed the 2020 season for getting a vaccine that wasn’t available until dec 2020 and even then it was only available to healthcare workers and very high risk individuals- seems unlikely he would’ve been eligible to receive the vaccine until well into 2021.

be able to complete passes to tight ends now. I think someone posted good stats for him to tight ends, but let's be honest, the receiver core was below average, so maybe that was all he had. It will be great to see us take advantage of matchups like some other teams do. I trust our coaching staff, until they prove otherwise.

Duly noted, Eric. I don’t think anyone here meant to restart that pointless debate. We’re just ridiculing a post that made no sense because of the timing of Sweeney’s heart condition. We’d have the same reaction to a poster blaming Daniel Jones for the Giants’ poor performance in the 2016 playoffs.

Myocarditis is a well-documented, not uncommon symptom of covid. But of course it also occurred occasionally before anybody ever heard of covid so who knows?

I can guarantee that this doesn't affect their draft plans. Sweeney and Cager are replaceable and if the Giants find a TE that is BPA on day 3 then they will not hesitate to select him.
