BBI Joint Mock Draft

kelsto811 : 3/23/2023 5:44 pm
Alright so a lot here participate in the annual BBI mock draft every year, but this is more of a less organized, unofficial mock that I've done here a few times in the past.

The way it works is...the next person to post in the thread, makes the pick for the team on the clock. The only real rule is don't make 2 picks in a row, unless the thread is slowing down so much it isn't moving anywhere. Let's see if we can get to the Giants pick.

With the 1st pick, the Carolina Panthers select QB CJ Stroud

So the next post that makes a pick for the Texans will be the official pick, and so on and so forth.

The Houston Texans are on the clock..

Dallas selects TE Michael Mayer, Notre Dame
Big Blue Blogger : 3/24/2023 3:16 pm : link
Sorry Jake Ferguson. Mayer should be an upgrade over Dalton Schultz, who was pretty good himself. After plugging a WR hole with Brandin Cooks, the Cowboys can indulge a slight luxury pick at TE.

3) Arizona Cardinals: Edge Will Anderson, Alabama
4) Indianapolis Colts: QB Will Levis, Kentucky
5) Seattle Seahawks: DT Jalen Carter, Georgia
6) Detroit Lions: CB Christian Gonzalez, Oregon

Buffalo Bills select...

Calijah Kancey, DT, Pittsburgh.

I would take him at 25 as the Giants if he were on the board.
Bengals select

TE Darnell Washington TE Georgia
RHPeel: The concern about Kancey --> NYG seems to be system fit.

should be the Giants pick if it fell that way. Not another number one pick devoted to the OL, wait till the second or third rounds.

From a scheme-fit perspective I agree. He's a better fit than Kancey. I just think Kancey is the type of player that is going to be overlooked b/c of his size even though he does SO MUCH very well.

I don't love the OLs that are likely to be available at the Giants' pick. I sort of see three paths, based on how the board is shaking out:

1. Trade up for a CB or WR.
2. Stay put and draft the best available player on the front seven.
3. Trade down for OL.

I meant to include DL (Bresee) among the positions of need where the Giants had a good option in this mock. His medical history and limited game experience might cause him to drop.
Could one of these late Round 1 teams

Take the Northwestern DE? I know KC is probably salivating that Hyatt or Addison is likely to be there.
New Orleans selects DE Keion White, Georgia Tech
Big Blue Blogger : 3/24/2023 5:19 pm : link
I don't know what Joe Woods has in mind for Saints defense. White lacks experience, but he has plenty of scheme-diverse tools to help a front seven that needs retoooling. With Michael Thomas returning, the WR need appears less pressing. Now all that stands between Addison and Patrick Mahomes is the Philadelphia Eagles.

I like the options that were left over for the Giants pick...part of me still really wants a WR but I understand the interior OL is an important need. Here are the final results:
