That weren't your team? Lol a bit of an odd thread but I was talking to some guy at work who is a Phillies fan and he was talking about their playoff history back in the day and mentioned the NLCS 2010 loss to the SF Giants in game 6 in Philly. I yelled oh shit I was there! and he knows I'm not a Phillies fan. He's asked "what the hell were you doing there?"
I remember making a trip months in advance with my family to head out to West Virginia and me and my ex-girlfriend had a head start and I just made a wild suggestion to go to that game and she was for it. I remember the ticket prices weren't too bad either for that game. Somewhere in the $100 range for lower level but in the second to last row.
Just think that there were thousands of San Francisco Giants fans across the country that night wishing they could be there but some guy from New Jersey for neither team occupies one of the seats. I almost forgot about that game too. What a weird memory but interesting moment to have.
What's your story? How'd you end up there? CSB.
That was pretty cool, as he was my favorite player growing up.
Saw Jacob DeGrom pitch in San Diego in 2018 and it was such a privilege to see him just dominate in person. 7.1 IP, 5 H, 8 Ks, 0 ER. Not his finest performance ever but plenty satisfying for me as I only get to see the Mets in person once every few years or so.
Saw R.A. Dickey pitch in perhaps his finest start of 2012, his Cy Young season, against the Rays. Pitched a complete game, allowed 1-hit, and struck out 12. He simply dazzled the Rays with the knuckler. The only hit he allowed was a hard luck infield single, a weak dribbler that David Wright tried to barehand and came up empty...the Mets appealed the ruling of the base hit, I thought it was 50-50, could've been called an error, and man, that close to seeing a Mets no-no in person.

You’re not a Knicks or Mets fan?
I should have said he was with the Rangers when he made his return
you're not a Giants fan?
Sat in the last row of the stadium. They called them the gray seats.
I am a Rangers fan, but thought it was cool as hell.
I went to a bunch of Sweet 16/Elite 8 rounds of NCAA tourneys 2010 - 2015. I was at the NYY playoff game v Balt when that kid (Jeffrey Meyer?)interfered with what should have been a fly ball out. I sat in a box for one of the Knicks - Pacers playoff games, not the one where Reggie Miller went off at the end, but that same series.
There are undoubtedly others that I can’t recall right now.
Back in 1999, I was on a midshipmen summer training cruise from the Naval Academy, and we had docked in NYC on our patrol boat. We were there for three days, and we had to spend one of the three days standing duty on the boat while we had two days of liberty. I was scheduled to go with a group of friends to a Yankees game during one of my liberty days, but one of the other guys needed to trade his duty day because his family was going to meet him in NYC that day. So I volunteered since I didn't really care for baseball or Yankees. My friends went to the Yankees game while I stayed on the boat that day.
That day was July 18, 1999 when David Cone pitched the 16th perfect game in baseball history against the Expos. My friends got to attend the game and got premium seats because of their uniform (they were in their summer whites) to watch history being made. They came back and told me about it, but at the time, I didn't know the significance of that game. Over the years, I've cursed myself for missing that game because I was being nice. Ugh.
Oh man if that were to happen in today's day and age, you bet your ass that be going viral at some point on TikTok or some other stupid app.
Also saw Darryl Stawberry’s first game with Tidewater Tides when I was stationed in Norfolk. Not a Mets fan.
Seavers coming home game in 1977 when he pitched vs koosman
Happened to be visiting my uncle/ grandmother in Astoria
so we went and caught the game. Zachary, Flynn, Henderson and norman still ring in my head.
Thank you again for that BBI!!
It was a do-or-die game for the Rangers who were vying to the final Patrick Division playoff spot with the Devils. The Rangers needed to win and have NJ lose to qualify (this would have set up and Islander-Ranger first round playoff series). It was a good game, 0-0 after two periods, both goaltenders were sharp. The Rangers broke through in the third and won 3-0. This was an afternoon game as I recall. On the ride home we had the Devils-Blackhawks game on the radio. I think the Devils tied the game late and eventually won in OT, knocking out the Rangers and setting up what would be an incredible playoff run for the Devils where they'd beat the Isles in (damnit!), Caps in 7 and lose to the Bruins in 7, behind the hot goaltending of Sean Burke.
I think the Devils had to win that game in Chicago to qualify, as there was no shootout and games could end in a tie. If that were the outcome the Rangers would have gotten in and history would have been quite different.
Great vibe to see in the city. Plus lot of fun doing a college road trip from ny.
I was there for both Panthers vs Cowboys games....LOVED watching Dallas get knocked out.
Was offered a free ticket. Why not?
Also once saw Eric Milton almost throw a no hitter against the Braves in Philly. Broken up in the 9th. So it was a near important game, but not quite.
I had great seats in the end zone...got to see Dan Marino. Natrone Means was a badass at that time.
Great game.
I've never even attended a really significant Giants game, unfortunately. Thank G-d I've had my share of big moments with the Yankees and Knicks.
Brewers clinch the AL East if they win 1 of 4 remaining games in Baltimore. They lose the first 3. My RA in the first year dorms is from Bal'mer and offers me a free seat for the road trip because of my baseball chops.
Threw in with my hosts.....can't remember ever rooting for a division rival under any circumstance before or after.
I remember that game very well. I learned that game that any team can win in the NFL. Broncos didn't lose at home that year (I think) and they were like 13 point favorites. Crazy.
It was pretty funny and worth the trip since I'm a Rangers fan lol one memory I have too is, near the end of the game, two massive brawls at the end of the game happened. One of them was all women in their 40s lol i wish I had a decent camera on my phone at the time. Life in 2007.
I went to a Devils playoff game too in the middle of the week vs Tampa Bay in 2003. I remember the upper level was maybe 20% filled. This was either the second round or the third round of the playoffs that year.
