Pho Dien on Bellaire if you want authentic Vietnamese pho.
For Tex-Mex you can do Pappasitos but I recommend Guadalajara Hacienda - 9799 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77024
Aga's Indian food - 11842 Wilcrest Dr, Houston, TX 77031
I'm not sure what part of the country you are coming from. Houston, is often considered the mot diverse city in the USA. If you are from the NE coast I would avoid pizza and pasta. You will be disappointed. On the other hand, barbeque, Tex-Mex, Vietnamese, oKrean, and Indian food will be top notch. Where are you guys staying?
Stay away from pizza and pasta. You can’t go wrong with Mexican…too many excellent places to list. If you like art go to the Menil Collection. It’s world class and free. If you are with kids go to the Center for Contemporary Craft, also free.
Rice village is fun to walk in nice weather too. Shopping and food, drinks there aplenty.
plus years in Harris and Galveston counties I've got plenty of suggestions but the easy way is go where we locals go...Kellys Country Cookin you bring the need they supply the feed. They're scattered around the area but closest to downtown is the Park Place location one of the originals off of the Gulf Fwy and a 2nd SE of downtown.
And you will need a want because the amounts of food are significant.
