A bid to purchase the Washington Commanders from Dan Snyder by a group that includes former NBA star Magic Johnson and is led by businessman and investor Josh Harris has been officially submitted, a person briefed on the negotiations confirmed to The Athletic on Tuesday.
The bid, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, meets Snyder’s $6 billion asking price. That would set a record price paid for a North American sports franchise. The Denver Broncos sold for $4.65 billion last year.- The Athletic
Oops, he actually paid around $800 million. Mark Cuban bought the Mavs for around $250 million. Still a nice haul for Danny Boy.
It is going to take a lot of work from the new owners to reverse that trend.
It may be horrific, but it is one of the higher priced ones. New ownership will likely increase it's value. I do not find the price out of line at all.

It's a dying fan base for sure.
But they desperately need a new stadium in a much better location. The current location and stadium quality are embarrassing.
So.......... At least we got that going for us.
I'd rather see Llamr get paid before a scumbag like Synder any day.

They've got to get rid of that new team name, too.
Personally I would never want to own a franchise - it's a very public leaning business in which you get harassed constantly by your 'customers' and you endure a ton of media scrutiny which, as Snyder proves, is not always (or even usually) a good thing.
That said, an NFL franchise is basically a license to print money. The Salary cap and collective TV rights deals mean that you will make money no matter what you do, and your franchise will increase in value, no matter what you do. You can be the most incompetent SOB on the planet and still rake in cash annually (again, Snyder is basically exhibit A - he ran the team poorly, created a ton of off the field problems, spent badly in FA, and he's still making $5 billion or more on the sale alone - that doesn't even account for how much he made annually).
There aren't many investments you can make that have a guaranteed return - but the NFL is one of them.
No, I wouldn't. He bought the team for $600 million. Name another investment that pays 10X in 20 years. I'm waiting...
Not sure if serious, but NO player has ever gone to 4 Final Fours.

Completely Agree. Hopefully the new owners have some money left for a stadium;)

I’ve heard a number of people say that if Snyder sold the team to an owner willing to break with the Synder policies and direction of the team, that the old RFK Stadium lot downtown has been held for a new Stadium for the team. THAT would revitalize the fan base there, as it’s accessible via Metro, bus, car and even walking.
While your sitting there waiting,I was wondering if you were ever a member of the Committee For Rational QB Evaluation
Multiple players have. including Christian Laettner.

Nah, they're demoralized and beaten down but they're still out there.

A football stadium in DC would completely change the makeup of the surrounding area for the better. Anyone who doesn't believe me should spend some time around Nationals Park, and not just when the Nationals play.

Members of the UCONN Women's team, for instance Breanna Stewart have not only gone to 4 final 4s but also won 4 championships.

My bad. I read the answer as player who won 4 Final Fours as that answer is zero.
Ha! I made the same connection after watching that show last night. At least it would count as an "original idea" to their daddy, I guess.

You can ride your damn bicycle to that stadium for a lot of areas of city. Was about a 15/20 minute bike ride for me when I lived in DC. We used to ride our bikes to Nats game too, beat the hell out of vehicle and metro traffic.

A former NBA player and college 4 time final 4 athlete has put in a 7 Billion dollar offer that is being kept quiet. I have an inside source.... he's black and he will be the MAJORITY owner if his bid is accepted.
Not sure if serious, but NO player has ever gone to 4 Final Fours.
Duke went to FOUR straight Final Fours, and before that Cincinnati went to five. So yes, a handful pf players have gone to 4 straight. And yes, this is serious.
The question is how credible that bid would actually be.

It's 100% credible and he has another 2.7 billion. He raised 9.7 billion, all in his own name with his own credit/credibility. He is also buying the 200 acres in northern Virginia that Snyder bought. AND he put a bid in to by Six Flags....
