Haven't watched the full 16 minutes yet, but I think he said soft tissue injuries were "down over 200%". Not sure what that means. Looking forward to the rest though. Schoen - ( New Window )
it may be a bit of a distorted number because trading toney may have accounted for the entire reduction.
mcls and acls were up, but id imagine they consider those less preventable compared to soft tissue, which very well could have been load management or programming issues. i think players did say judge over practiced them in pads during game weeks to the point of wearing down so there may be something to that.
You can increase by 200% but if you went down by 100% that means you had zero.
i think he probably saw it the opposite way (injuries were 200% higher in 2021 than 2022) and just communicated it wrong not realizing the math changes in reverse.
5-->15 is a 200% increase
15-->5 is a 66% decrease

Correct. If he is using last year as the starting point, it is a 67% decrease in injuries. If he is comparing it to last year, then he can say there were 200% more injuries in 2021 than in 2022.

which is what i suspect an endeavoring sports science staffer put into a deck schoen was quoting from because the latter sounds better and schoen just regurgitated it incorrectly by accident.
1) LW - it does not appear they are actively working on reducing the cap number. Schoen seemed to shrug it off. Seems to say they have not talked about it with LW's camp.
2) Barkley - reporter asked about a contract in lieu of the depressed RB market(getting Barkley cheaper). Schoen said flat out it does not affect Barkley as he is much better than what is/was out there. It was a pretty strong reply if you watch the intensity in his facial expression.

I took that as a simple response to the question about Waller's injuries. He believes our training staff can keep him on the field, regarding his recent injury history.
