first mention of richie james, said he missed all of last year before 2022 and was healthy all year outside of concussion....
i dont know why they choose crowder over james, james seems like the vastly more athletic player, younger, has history with jones and this offense, high catch rate before this year.
wish they bought him back.
I thought he only coughed it up when he wore short sleeves, and he fixed that afterwards
but 3 guys are coming back off ACL/Achilles.
So hes 5th.
They do have similar skill set guys like crowder, a older near 30 vet, pimpleton a 2nd year player who spent all year on PS and has ST values both of them.
They also have Mickens as well for some ST value.
I want to bring back James, i dont understand why not unless hes holding out for more than 2-3 million max.
That would bring back your top 4 rushers, top 2 QB, top 7 pass catchers. tremendous continuity along weapons and offensive coaching staff and 5 guys who started multiple games along the OL projected to be started.
Really only that one game that was bad rest of it he wasn’t bad just safe. As a fans perspective though when I see his name that’s the first thing that comes to mind. I think they want more explosiveness from the returner is basically what it boils down to. As far as wr goes they are looking to upgrade the room and when you do guys like James got to go
Bingo.
How goes it Mike? Hope all's well man!
I am sure a lot had to do with trading toney. He pulls a muscle getting out of bed.

I put him above Smith (best season 17/167/0; zero career TD) and Colin Johnson (best year 18/272/2, coming off major injury. Shep can’t stay on the field. Crowder has missed 21 games in the last 3 years. Campbell has had one healthy season in a four year career.
As you say, there’s a spot for him if he’s reasonable, but certainly can’t blame James for testing the market after the best season of his career.
So both parties shop around for a while until both are convinced that re-signing is the smart move.
If they add 2 WRs in the draft, James would likely be out of a job anyway.

The OP makes valid points and I think this view is probably the bottom line. I’ve always been a big fan of Crowder and think he’s better than James (when healthy) but he’s now on the nasty side of 30.

We have no idea if the team tried to resign him or not. I think sometimes we forget that its FREE agency. Its not a draft where you just select guys and they are yours. Maybe he wants more money than they are willing to offer....maybe the guys was a PITA in the room and they want to cut ties....maybe he hated the NY/NJ area and all the negatives ($$$$) that come with living and working there and wants to see if he can find a better situation...maybe he wants to play closer to him and his family...could be a million different things.
You go back to James when no better alternative. Campbell is a more talented package, take the flier and look for another.
