Jalin Hyatt Under rated potential 1st round draft for Giants

dtowner : 4:41 pm
I'm new to posting this forum but from what I've been reading over the past few weeks, there doesn't seem to be a lot of love for Hyatt being the pick at #25 for the Giants. I see a lot of love for Zay Flowers and JSN. IMHO - I'm getting tired of these 5'9 or 5'10 smaller slot receivers who are extremely talented but always hurt I.e. Sheppard, Toney, Wan'del.

I like Hyatt because of his speed - he will stretch the field for us. His weight is a little light, but who doesn't bulk up a bit once they hit the NFL. And at 6'0 he is a bit taller target. He has long arms and coaches say he plays even bigger than his size. I think he has the potential to be a future #1 WR.

Not only that, he seems to be a high Caliber guy that the Giants Staff would like. He won the Fred Biletnikoff Award, was runner up in the Maxwell Award and a semi finalist for the Walter Camp Award.

If the Giants of something other than a WR with their first pick (i.e. center) I wouldn't mind them getting a 6'3' 215lb WR in the second round. AT Perry, Cedric Tillman, Xavier Hutchinson - a big 3rd down/endzone target that is available and not always hurt.

Thought and of course criticism is welcome.
Nothing wrong with all the players u mentioned

Probably a few in play for gmen.
I just want 4-5 potential starters. I am open to most positions
If it fills needs, even better
But if we get a stud ILB, dline or IOL in rd 1. So be it
I really like Hyatt

and would have no problem with the Giants drafting him. I'll say this..when I read the scouting reports, regarding the WRs from a year ago who 10,11,12 in a row..Wilson, Olave, Williams..I have a hard time believing Hyatt will make to 25.

That being said, I don't buy into the smaller WRs being hurt concept..till someone backs it up with real data. Just because WanDale Robinson hurt his ACL doesn't mean it's a trend among smaller WRs.
He's 175 lbs, so much for the undersized point

I like just about every WR more than him at #25. Conflating Flowers with the NYG bad luck based on size isn't compelling. Flowers is way up there.
I’m just hoping they don’t take a WR at 25

There should be several good defensive players available, and there is a greater need there than selecting a WR just to select a WR.
I love Hyatt's speed
but I have genuine questions about his route running ability. He reminds me of Robbie Anderson who basically only runs go routes.
Hyatt is the same size at Devonta Smith

6’1” 180

4.4 speed

He is a first round talent in this draft.

Completely different skill set. Smith was the best all around receiver coming out of college, elite route runner, excellent hands, and good after the catch. Not saying Hyatt can develop into a great route runner but we don’t see that much on his tape. He was asked to be a burner and did just that

It's ridiculous the number of TDs he had with go routes, maybe he's that fast he doesn't need any other moves lol

Reading Retention 101 - I mentioned his weight and he'll probably play closer to 190 once the NFL season starts (reread what I said). And yes, you're probably right about worrying about injury with Flowers or JSN because of the Giant's recent history with smaller receivers, but getting stung a few time you tend NOT to put your hand back in the beehive. :-)
If Schoen and Daboll

like him enough to draft him, then I back them. I believe they will vet each WR for everything from grade school to college and will know his route running, coachability, ability to catch contested balls, personality and character, and how he fits the new system. They will watch many, many hours of tape on everyone of the WRs. Therefore, if he's picked, they must believe he's their man, and that's good enough for me.

Not many guys with his build gain 17 lbs before their rookie season if ever. I heard the same dream above Devobta. Good luck with it, it's atypical. Trying smart-ass route doesn't suit you.
That combine 40 time weakens his stock a bit.
cosmicj : 8:28 pm : link
But I’m sure the Giants are scouting him very carefully. Seems to be a smart guy, btw.
One route WR

In a normal year he’d be fine at 25 but he’s not even on the same planet as zay in terms of route running and body control. I would be insanely disappointed in Hyatt over Zay or any of the other top 3. Honestly would rather Dell or Downs in the 2nd. The draft is a crap shoot but he just screams Tedd Ginn to me
Wilson ran a 4.38,Olave a 4.39, Hyatt 4.40
BSIMatt : 3/30/2023 8:34 am : link
10 yard split 1.5 right there with both, topped both in explosion numbers: vert and broad. Jameson who didn’t run at all coming off an acl went 12th a year ago..frame wise he’s right there with those 3, like 7lbs lighter. I’m not sure it hurts his stock at all given his film backs up his speed. The other point is the negatives on all 3 of those guys a very similar to Hyatt…not exactly obviously…but very similar. I won’t be surprised if he goes before 25 based on last years draft…but obviously there has to be a team fit.

That all being said my favorite wr is Flowers.
