Smartest move was after the lead jumped to 9 was leaving the 5 man unit in the game, he easily could of taken Grimes or Rj out for Brunson and he didnt..
Hartenstein with 29 minutes including the entire 4th quarter, Mitch with just 19 minutes. Noticed that Hartenstein is playing most of the 4th quarter minutes of late

Mitch has been off lately but Hartenstein always commits the dumbest fouls every game. I think it is a game by game situation between both of them.

This was not a game for Mitxh, you needed Hartensteins passing and with Miami blitzing and doubling and playing zone mItch was useless
was the best guy on the court and that's saying something given Butler, Bam and Herro were on the other side.
-Kudos to Thibs for going away from his usual rotation and sticking with what was working down the stretch
-RJ was awful. Zero court sense. Even on his clutch 3, he should have passed it, lol.
-Tony Brothers is a horrendous ref. Did Miami even challenge on the Butler double dribble or did they just overturn it on their own?
-Mitch has such bad hands.
-Grimes has the potential to be a damn good two-way player with some playmaking ability. And he has a lightning quick release.
been killed for months for botching the Brunson situation - but what I don't get is once it became obvious he had his eye on NY, why didn't Dallas try to engage us in a sign-and-trade and try to get back something for him? They're a win-now team that was over the cap. At a minimum, Burks would have really helped them. You can't let the asset walk away for nothing.

I think that was part of the tampering on our part. Yes, Brunson could have gotten more money but why weaken your team in the process?

we had to send salary (Noel and Burks) to Detroit to clear room for Brunson. Dallas could have just taken those (or other) players back instead.
But they were moved prior to Brunson becoming a FA

Based on Brunson’s recent comments they could have likely kept him if they really tried to.
“I wanted that role of being with the Mavericks for the long haul of my career. I truly loved that place,” Brunson told Haynes. “I can’t say anything bad about Dallas, but obviously I wish things would’ve happened differently.”
the Kemba trade was on draft night. Burks/Noel were moved like 1-2 days before free agency. And the Brunson to NY rumors were pretty loud even before that. Even after Brunson agreed to the contract with the Knicks, Dallas still could have tried to get in on the Detroit deal and made it a 3-way trade.
because of their defense and versatility bit teams with size will hurt them
You can't just lose an all-star who averages 25 and not miss a beat. Other players will have to step up and and provide scoring. But I wonder if the late game execution will get better.
And it's a nice opportunity for Obi to show he can be more than a spot up shooter.

Hart had some minutes at PF tonight.
May see some more of Sims.

Not too shabby. The current nine-man rotation is a 50+ win team if it stays reasonably healthy over 82 games, and there are still plenty of avenues to improve it.
One thing about this team is they have moxie. They don't always play smart, they're awful on the fast break and they miss way too many makeable shots but they never quit, they're tough and it shows in their road record. It will be interesting to see them play without Randle for an extended period for the first time in like 4 years since he got here. I'd be shocked if he played at all the rest of the regular season, and I bet he's real iffy for the start of the playoffs. He could barely put any kind of weight on the ankle. That had the looks of a multi week injury.

It will be interesting to see Friday how they matchup without Randle, i know regular season usually doesnt translate to postseason BUT if Knicks go small it will be interesting to see how cleveland matches up or do they just try to body the Knicks in the paint
I didn't realize the Bulls are probably gonna finish 10th. I thought they were done. My god the East play-in is gonna be a war. Miami, Toronto, Atlanta and the Bulls??? Wow. Congrats Miami. You didn't try too many games this year so if you finish 7th you get to see Vu, DeRozan and Lavine come into your building. They don't play D, and the Heat do but the 3 of them can combine for 70 points on any given night and no way Miami can match that fire power. Trey Young on a 1 and done or a brutally tough Toronto team are no picnic either. This was a great year to avoid the play-in.
Also Sacramento is back in the playoffs ending a 16 year drought. Anyone old enough to remember when Sacramento was good knows that's a great NBA town. For decades they sold out every night. It was sad what they had become. I'm really happy for them because they really have a great loyal fan base much like us Knicks fans.
There were a lot of ways that they could have let that game go last night but they dug in and out uglied the Heat. They seemed really tight last night in the first half and it seemed that, and not necessarily great Heat D, led to a lot of turnovers.
Really bad time for Randle to get hurt. They'll be fine the rest of the reg season but we really need Randle in round 1 of the playoffs. For all his faults, he is an offensive force. Brunson was rusty and so the only one who really had it going last night was Quickley. That might not be enough in the playoffs.
Not too shabby. The current nine-man rotation is a 50+ win team if it stays reasonably healthy over 82 games, and there are still plenty of avenues to improve it.
should have been a 50 win team anyway if some of those horrific late game losses from earlier in the season go our way. Or even the recent losses to Charlotte and Minnesota.
And if it's a sprain it could be 2-4 weeks minimum.
Randle is a big part of this team and we don't win without him also Cleveland is a big team down low and would love to see a Randleless Knicks team
And if it's a sprain it could be 2-4 weeks minimum.

agreed with everything you said but on the other end Mobely then has to chase around Rj, Hart or Obi who likes to leak out
Let me explain,
I was thinking to myself why Thibs put Randle back in when he did in the 2nd Quarter.....I thought Obi was playing well, and lord knows Randle needed rest whenever possible.....no sooner did the thought cross my mind-BANG Randle sprains his ankle.
My bad
That was unbelievable.
Hart just locked him down
Smartest move was after the lead jumped to 9 was leaving the 5 man unit in the game, he easily could of taken Grimes or Rj out for Brunson and he didnt..
5 to play with 3 against non playoff teams
Iq another great game and he stepped up with Brunson a little rusty..
Game Friday against Cleveland is not crazy important but Knicks could send a little message
He’s like a military service dog.
Mitch has been off lately but Hartenstein always commits the dumbest fouls every game. I think it is a game by game situation between both of them.

Sucks that we’re gonna lose that pick. We could add a really nice young piece to a 46-47 win roster.
This is gonna come down to the wire. Dallas currently owns the 11th pick in the draft.

@Atlanta (playing better w/Quin Snyder)
Sacramento
Chicago
San Antonio
Any chance they go 3-2? I think I’d sign up for that and take my chances.

You can't just lose an all-star who averages 25 and not miss a beat. Other players will have to step up and and provide scoring. But I wonder if the late game execution will get better.
And it's a nice opportunity for Obi to show he can be more than a spot up shooter.

I must not be remembering this correctly.

Agreed!!
Make some noise in postseason
The guys who were playing well got the minutes.
