NFT: Knicks Draft Mavs Pick

Please clarify

Mavs currently out of play in game I believe
Knicks have their pick and do not have their own since traded in Josh Hart deal
BTW. Great trade

What I read about pick from Dallas is that it’s top ten lottery protected
If Mavs continue to lose their last 6 or 7 games and Mavs in lottery then the Knicks won’t have a draft pick this year
Am I right or wrong

11-14 is still lottery, but would still be ours. They could finish 10th and then have someone 11-14 jump them and we'd get the pick. Small chance of that of course.

But let's root for them to get hot.

If the pick ends up being 10 or higher after the lottery is completed, the Mavs keep the pick. That's basically it. I believe it is top 10 protected in 2024 as well.

Be easier to imagine this happening if Wash had the Bulls in the remaining games, but they don't. It's getting late for a change in standings.

It's always after the lottery once the official draft order is set

Gotta cross your fingers for 11 also it could be a blessing in disguise to kick it to next year.
Mavs are going in the wrong direction and they are talent depleted and have traded most of their picks.
Next year's pick could be valuable to trade for a star maybe we can trade it back to them when Luka asks out.

Dallas finishes @Miami, @Atlanta, Sacramento, Chicago, San Antonio. I don't think 3-2 is too much to ask, and that might be good enough to keep them out of the top 10.

Knicks play New Orleans soon - we could help salvage that pick by beating them.

if the pick conveys this summer. A few of our guys are about to get paid relatively soon and it's good to have the next wave of guys behind them on rookie contracts. Or it's something they can use in a trade. I just don't know who's going to be available that would be a fit going forward.

yeah, but it's lottery protected (i.e. 1-14 own). We are not a lottery team this year unless something incredible happens, of course, so it will convey.
