Managed to WFH today and clear most of the afternoon, let’s play ball

I believe they'll finish second in the AL East, 90-95 wins, win a wild card round, lose in the divisionals. Not nearly enough was done to overcome the obvious deficiencies on offense or the starting pitching.

That said, as always, I'm hoping I am wrong this season.

Yanks found a way to get all their best bats in the lineup on opening day, with Stanton in RF and Judge in CF. That way Torres can DH with DJLM at 2B. As well as choosing Cabrera in LF over Hicks. Kudos.

Did not notice DJLM at 2B and Torres at DH - I would have flipped that. But WTF do I know?

is going to hinge on how healthy they can stay. Especially in the starting rotation and bullpen.

Good. Not expecting it, but would be nice if Donaldson gets off to a good start. If not, DFA should be in his future.

Lots of ink spilled over his retooled swing. Maybe it works. Time will tell on that. Until he shows he can hit again in games that count, I'd rather he be down the lineup.

He should be hitting 8th

But I don't mind them slotting him ninth for now. No need to put any more pressure on the kid than is already there.

He's played a lot of RF in his career, and has always hit better as an outfielder than as a DH.

Until Bader returns, this should be the outfield. You're putting Hicks or, God help us, Florial out there otherwise.

All those moves were done this morning. Effross and Gil to 60 day IL to open up roster spots on 40 man for Volpe and Franchy Cordero. All the rest to regular 10 day/15 day IL's (Bader, Montas, Rodon, Severino, Kahnle, Trivino, and Rortvedt). Although if/when they need another 40 man spot...Montas will be moved to 60 day IL as well. Maybe even Rortvedt too.

is going to be out of action for a while. So it looks like he will have missed at least a year and a half before he gets back which is a bit surprising. Other than that "brilliant" insight, I look forward to both the season and the BBI commentary

Torres - Oppo job!

Keep going to right field and it'll be a good season. Gleyber may never reach 2019 levels again with the juiced balls. And it's entirely possible that his long term future is elsewhere. But I think he's somewhat unfairly been tossed aside by a portion of the fan base, and is sort of looked at as a disappointment. He had a good season last year, even with a terrible slump in August. The prospect hype was significant, but he's still a good player and an important contributor

He is likely done, unless Boone wants him to get an ovation after one more batter.
