Thr organization needs to make damn sure his movement is back before they let him play. He's such a horse and gamer I could see a scenario where he lobbies hard to get in there for the playoffs before he's fully healed and a compromised immobile Randle would be death to our chances.
but follow me here: If he can't go in round one, or is limited, it's a built-in excuse for losing and won't kill the vibes around the team the way the Hawks loss did two years ago. That would be my admittedly flimsy silver lining.

I was very curious to see how he'd do against the twin towers in Cleveland. Mobley is still a baby but he's really good and Randle didn't exactly distinguish himself against the Hawks two years ago.
For the playoffs.
Hopefully they use the 2 weeks to figure out a lineup Cleveland is a bad match up to go small ball and Toppin is not a good rebounder unless you start putting Hartenstein and Mitch on the floor together.
what it hurts is teams can now double Brunson like they did to Julius when Brunson was out..
You need Rj and Grimes to step up, if Grimes is knocking down that 3 it will hurt teams doubling.
Going against cleveland, yeah they are big but Mobely is not the most physical and he is going to have to chase around Rj, Hart or Toppin for an entire series..
and this is a big oppurtunity for Rj, More oppurtunities and the ball in his hands a little bit more..
that's a terrifying thought.
Hart played the 4/PF for the 4th quarter last night. It was Quick, Grimes, RJ, Hart and Hartenstein who finished the game. Not sure that many more minutes will go to Obi.
Allen or Okoro will play so this wont be a true playoff preview and without Allen Knicks can go small without having to deal with their twin towers..
Macri made a good point this morning, if the Knicks do go with Hart or Rj at the 4 against cleveland, are they really going to run the offense through Mobely post ups? and wouldnt the Knicks gladly take that? Ball out of Garland and Mitchell's hands
at least try RJ at the 4 going back to last season since I'm a sucker for small ball lineups. But it's hard to play small ball with guys who can't shoot and RJ at the 4 alongside one of the centers might be problematic offensively. Probably just better off with Hart or Obi - who at least appears to be getting better as a 3 pt shooter.

You are probably right, it worked against miami because Quick and Grimes were hot, ihart was playing high post and zrj hit the 1 3 he got standing in the corner and Miami doubled everything, made the offense easy for the Knicks...
Like it or not, RJ already averages almost 34 minutes per night. So you're not going to make up Randle's minutes by adding them onto RJ's, even leaving aside positional debates about RJ playing the 4.
So you're looking at spreading those 36 minutes around, which is basically what Thibs said. You'll see added minutes for all of Hart, Obi and Grimes - and you may see cameos from Sims as well. 36 minutes is a lot no matter how you slice it.
about Obi's shooting coming out of college was that his misses were usually really awful. I have no stats on this but his missed jump shots appear to be getting less bad (which is admittedly a ridiculous thing to say) which hopefully is a good sign. You see it with IQ who's misses seem to rim out 3-4 times a game.
And then you have RJ who's misses barely graze the rim or are outright bricks. He had a free throw the other night that caromed at a 90 degree angle directly towards the sideline. That's hard to do! lol.
Roundabout way of saying I'm sorta hopeful Obi can produce on offense if given the opportunity while Randle is out. His defense is another story...
Again, a ridiculous conversation but these are things you notice when you watch this crazy team night after night.
Rj is going to need to hit the 3 for him to be effective, he is not going to be able to consistently get to the rim with Allen and Mobely in the game. And if he forces and continuously gets his shot blocked its going to kill the Knicks offensive game.
Has to stop forcing shots, thw reason he played a better 2nd half against Miami is because he stopped forcing up shots...When he forces and is 1 for 9 it absolutely kills the Knicks..If he is 1-4 or 2-5 it doesnt kill the team..
as for the 4 spot the simplest way Thibs can rotate guys, start Toppin, first sub the usual quick for Rj, then Hart for Brunson, Bring back Rj with a couple minutes left for Toppin...
Start the 2nd with Deuce, Quick, Hart, Rj Hartenstein...
Brunson back in for Deuce, Toppin back in for Rj..Grimes comes back for Quick and then Rj thr normal sub back for Hart with a couple minites left..
To finish games Brunson, IQ, Hart are probably locks..
Hartenstein or Mitch..
Grimes, Rj or toppin based on game flow and who is playing the best and how the Cavs are finishing

You left out Jericho. He is sure to get minutes at the 4 until Randle comes back
it will probably be a lesser version of the Randle we know. He's going to be Re-evaluated in 2 weeks, not that he will be back in two weeks. If you've ever had a bad ankle sprain(this one looked bad), you'd know that 2 weeks is very aggressive. However, Randle isn't the average man, so who knows.
RE: I left out Jericho because i am not playing him
We don't really stand a chance without him.

That doesn't mean he's back in 2 weeks. And of course...
Haha excellent
that's a terrifying thought.

Yeah id honestly start quick and Rj at the 4, gives the Knicks another competent ball handler in the stsrting lineup

Thanks. I guess most don't get it.

When I think '2 weeks', I think of Baldwin screaming @ Wahlberg in 'The Departed'...'THE WORLD NEEDS PLENTY OF BARTENDERS! TWO WEEKS! WITH PAY!'

Total Recall - ( New Window )
Perfect opportunity to see what Obi can do. Lets see it.

Game 1 of the playoffs??or Game 3 ish?

After the game, Thibs said he trusts Obi and Hart at the 4. He then mentioned Sims too. I don't see Barrett playing there according to his comments.

Which is totally possible with two 7 footers
Guarantee Jericho plays tonight
