might as well go the distance with EC. It isn't all that good, but, what's a couple more hours?
BCS is absolutely worth it. I'm of the opinion that some of the early/mid seasons dragged a bit, but in hind sight, I was too eager for Saul, and didn't appreciate Jimmy.
Yeah. Spot on. I remember watching El Camino after the Giants Patriots Thursday night football game in my hotel because I didn't want anybody to spoil it for me.
When I was done with it I couldn't believe how pointless that whole thing was. I've never watched a more (?) pointless film in my life. I couldn't believe I got excited for that lol
Must watch BCS. But as others have said, be patient. Especially if you just finished BB, stepping into the early seasons of BCS is going to be a bit of a shock, given its pacing and content (it's still great, just different). But it absolutely pays off.
I liked El Camino, adds a few interesting notes on the end of the BB story. Worth watching too. Maybe watch that, then get into Saul
I was on that "BCS > BB" train until the very last stop. Those last few episodes were just okay and dare I say ... boring? The ending wasn't surprising at all to me. It was obvious where they were going and it just kind of ended and we went on our way.
I remember watching them all at work ... on break. I remember turning it off and just not thinking much of anything about the final or last few episodes.

I did enjoy BCS but it was really slow AF. Did pick up and seasons progressed and it was well done like BB. Thought they kinda dropped the ball last few episodes
Definitely had some great moments but some parts just lagged a bit too much
Takes a lot of shit, but it's Aaron Paul's swan song as Jesse Pinkman. If you love the show like I did, and it seems like you do, it's a must watch. No, it's not "great". But it's worth the watch just to see how Pinkman's story ends. Despite the so-so script, Paul is terrific in it, per usual, and makes it worth the watch.
BCS - absolutely. Agree that it's a slow burn. I was reticent to watch it because Saul was not one of my favorite characters on BCS, but it's so well done. And it's as much a rise of Gus Fring and Mike Erhmantraut story as it is a Saul Goodman story, and boy, is it good, and so are Giancarlo Esposito and Johnathan Banks.
And BCS is #2. There were storylines that were as good as anything BB had to offer, but it definitely moved at a slower pace. Kim, Nacho, and Lalo are incredible characters. If you liked BB, BCS is absolute must-watch.
BCS was really great. I think the first few episodes are a bit of a challenge--as of Episode 2 or so I was pretty meh on it--but by the end of season 1, I was absolutely sold, and there are days where I would say it was a stronger show than Breaking Bad, top to bottom.
I enjoyed both shows, but BB>BCS and it's not close.
BB has probably the best series finale of any series ever made, and as much as I like Bob Odenkirk, Bryan Cranston>Bob Odenkirk.
Random Bryan Cranston story is that he saw Charles Manson come down on a horse when visiting the ranch in LA.
If you haven't watched "Your Honor" on ShowTime yet, it's great. Only two seasons and that's probably the end of the show, but Cranston is fantastic again. Great series. I would love for them to do a season 3, but I don't think there's much story for Cranston's character arc in a hypothetical season 3. But the other characters are compelling enough to where they could do it.
And Mark Margolis plays an old mobster by the name of Carmine Conti in it. Another tie in to BB...he played Hector Salamanca.

You are entitled to your opinion but Cranston overacts and wasn’t even the best part of BB. Odenkirk impressed the hell out of me and Kim Wexler is probably my favorite character in both seasons. Plus you get a better version of Mike and to me, a better overall story.
a definite watch. El Camino isn’t quite as good, but worth watching, IMO. The good thing about El Camino is it’s only a couple of hours, not multiple seasons like Saul.
The weird th8ng about Saul is that it’s supposed to be a prequel, but, as you’d expect, the characters look much older. Gus Fring stands out, since he looks like he put on 20 lbs, but the most glaring is Mike’s granddaughter. She was a toddler in Breaking Bad, but a young adult in Saul. I think Vince Giligan realized how ridiculous it looked, as he phased her out after season 1. Still a great show.

I liked Your Honor S1 enough to start S2, but I made it 2 episodes and couldn't get in to it for some reason. Maybe I'll wait until it ends and binge it.
He definitely got a raw deal! Poor Howard, lol. The show was absolutely brilliant in making him this unlikable character early into the most sympathetic character on the show.
might be my two favorite characters in the entire Breaking Bad/BCS universe. Or atleast up there with Mike. BCS told both of their stories really well and the actors killed it.
Lalo is a complete psycho yet plays it so cool on the surface. And Nacho's inner struggle with his life had you invested in him. Nacho's final scene is one of the more memorable ones in the series imo.

I have not watched either show...and I see that BCS is the Prequal. Would you recommend watching BCS first or BB first, then BCS second?
I was about to ask the same question.
IMO better to watch Breaking Bad first. A lot of the character development in BCS won’t make as much sense if you aren’t familiar with the characters from BB
As much as you know how the characters end up from watching BB, the backstory of how they get there in BCS is great
I don't want those 2 hours back or anything, but I didn't need it. If you're a breaking bad fan, I think it's worth watching just so you don't wonder what you're missing. But no need to make it a priority. BCS on the other hand - run, don't walk.

Great post.
Loved BCS though it lost me some toward the end. To be fair, so did BB. Still enjoyed both and highly recommend.
BCS takes a bit more patience as it’s not as dramatic from the jump but well worth it. I actually really enjoyed those “slower” episodes/seasons.
El Camino was released when Better Call Saul was on the air. So do whatever you want. I still stand by what I said El Camino didn't serve any purpose.
For me it did. My goal going in to watching that show was to answer the question "what happened to Jesse Pinkman after he busted through that fence" in the last episode. And while I didnt think it was a great movie...more like an additional episode than a movie....it did answer my question.
I don't think the original finale implied any hints that Jesse didn't get away, did it? It just reassured what we already knew. If it was about his life down the road struggling with evading arrest and trying to live without Walt or Skinny Pete or the rest of his ABQ crew helping him out, then yeah, but El Camino *SPOILER!
picked up directly after where BB left off. Everyone looked way older and weird.
I would like a third Breaking Bad show but I think it's time we take a break from these characters. Well at least I want to for a couple of years. A Lalo show would be great. No. Doesn't need to be like six seasons I can deal with one or two seasons or maybe even three at the absolute most.
Note: The events in black and white in BCS are AFTER the events that take place in BB. The events in color in BCS are pre Walter White in BB. Better Call Saul (pre Walt) is set around the early 2000s if I rememeber that correctly.
El Camino there is absolutely no rush to see but if you're bored with nothing better to do, watch it.
Personally I liked Better Call Saul more but it's a preference thing. Saul is a prequel to Breaking Bad.
It's still good though.
BCS is absolutely worth it. I'm of the opinion that some of the early/mid seasons dragged a bit, but in hind sight, I was too eager for Saul, and didn't appreciate Jimmy.

Spicy
co-sign. I'm still a bit amazed by BCS and how they pieced it all together. Amazing show

You've now just convinced me to watch it all the way through again starting today!
BCS is a must watch despite your opinion of BB. It's a fantastic series.

It’s the exact opposite of “it’s not close”.

As much as I liked Saul, Breaking Bad was definitely the better show, one of, if not the, best I’ve ever watched.
Surprising. The complete season 2 has been released. I really enjoyed it. I suppose different strokes and all.
He definitely got a raw deal! Poor Howard, lol. The show was absolutely brilliant in making him this unlikable character early into the most sympathetic character on the show.
I agree wholeheartedly.
BCS is just as good as Breaking Bad if not better-which is incredible to even say given just how good breaking bad was.
I was about to ask the same question.
Lalo is a complete psycho yet plays it so cool on the surface. And Nacho's inner struggle with his life had you invested in him. Nacho's final scene is one of the more memorable ones in the series imo.

I want a Lalo show.
