That's what you flip out over? I think the fan is probably a moron, but that is hardly doing something wrong. Rendon completely over-reacted. His one saving grace is that his weak swipe missed. I don't think he was trying to hurt the fan, but just put a scare in him. I don't think Rendon gets out of this unscathed, but I don't think it warrants drastic action. Maybe a 1 game suspension.
He's too sensitive to be a called a bitch? Players have endured FAR worse for decades. That doesn't make it OK, but this was something anyone could experience in just about any situation in life. Nobody's reaction to being called a bitch should be to threaten and then attempt violence.
Then there is the over reaction of fans and media to Rendon's over reaction. He clearly showed poor judgement. But headlines and tweets are saying things like he went into the stands, he lunged at fan, and worse. Before seeing the video, I thought he was in the stands and he took an real swing at the fan. Instead, he's walking his normal path to the clubhouse, never stepping into the stands and his "Swing" was more like the asshole that knocks the hat off a guy as things are being broken up. That didn't look like a swing in earnest. It made Will Smith's slap look violent.
The fan was an asshole? Sure, but was the fan worse than a lot of fans for over a century? He's a hometown fan riding an opposing player. That has always happened. If all he did was call the guy a bitch, then I don't have much of a problem with him. I think the guy's a moron, but I don't think this is anything out of the ordinary or anything we haven't seen or anything worth noting. It's not like he used real slurs or threatened the player or threatened the player's family, etc.
Bottom line is there is a lot of over reacting over the fan and Rendon. Rendon likely gets saved by that weak ass swipe not connecting. Even though he ended up doing very little, he was wring to cross the line with the fan by putting his hands on him in any fashion. He should be and will be suspended for that. But, I can't see this being significant.
