The mock draft I fear the most....

Milton : 4/8/2023 8:50 am
The Huddle Report updated their Top 200 list. It's one of the more well-researched ones when it comes to NFL sources, so worth browsing.

They also added some mock drafts, one of which comes from the guy who runs the website, Robby Esch. He has the Giants taking Zay Flowers, which I'm perfectly fine with, but he also has the Eagles taking Bijan Robinson with the 10th overall pick. He's the first draftnik to have Robinson going in the top ten even though just about every one of them have him ranked in the top six (Jeremiah has him #3, DraftTek has him #4, Draft Board Guru has him #5, THR and GBN have him #6).

Robinson to the Eagles will haunt us for the next 5+ years. Only thing worse than the Eagles landing Robinson with the 10th overall pick is them trading down with a QB-hungry team and still managing to get him with a mid-first round pick.

I disagree, I’m hoping they dontake

Robinson. I may be in the minority, but I don’t see him coming into the NFL and tearing it up right away. While his overall numbers are good, did he look that great when the competition got stronger? He looked terrible against Alabama, and while most running backs might have the same results, he’s supposed to be special.
He's the closest thing I've seen to Barry Sanders...

...when it comes to making people miss in tight quarters and he's a much better pass catcher than Sanders ever was. He will be the NFL's best RB as a rookie.

when you find yourself scared and in a world of doubt and feel like curling up a fetal position considering that the Giants may draft players you don't think would be the best players they could draft remember the words of former president Franklin Delano Roosevelt who famously ushered Americans out of the great depression with his inaugural speech and I think it will help you get through this period before the NFL draft littered with scary and terrifying mock drafts.

Exactly.

they are the team that I love to hate the most but they've played the draft and FA as well as you can. This has set them up in a situation where they have a great team and the #10 pick.
I would love for the Eagles
Doubledeuce22 : 4/8/2023 10:38 am : link
To waste a top 10 pick on a RB. The average life span for a RB is 4 years. Drafting a RB in the 1st round rarely works anymore.

Was he touched by the hand of God, too? Is he being fitted for a gold jacket?

That's what I found more fearful.

I mean I'm sure he's going to be a fine pro in all likelihood, but no slot receivers with a high pick please.

Along those same lines I love how gen Grant admonished his staff for always worrying about Lee.

Oh, I am heartily tired of hearing about what Lee is going to do. Some of you always seem to think he is suddenly going to turn a double somersault, and land in our rear and on both of our flanks at the same time. Go back to your command, and try to think what we are going to do ourselves, instead of what Lee is going to do.

Some people may need a reminder.

Superbowl wins:

Giants: 4
Eagles: 1

this Eagles fear is annoying.

ok, just more concerned, Philly, like many years of watching N.E., find a stupid team that wants to trade into the #10 and give them a #1 or #2 next year, suck, and Philly has a top 15 +/-or 45 +/- pick in ‘24 in a very deep draft all around.
What about the eagles history…
Chris in Philly : 4/8/2023 1:26 pm : link
leads you to believe they will consider taking a RB at 10?
Philly really struggled to run the ball
Lines of Scrimmage : 4/8/2023 1:28 pm : link
in the second half of the SB. It's a interesting thought from this mock.

Both McCarthy and Rivera have said they want to run the ball more.

I hope the Giants are anticipating this and are prepared as I expect the NFCE to be a really competitive division and who wins the battle of the fronts is going to be a very big factor.

They let Miles Saunders walk without a fight and did nothing to replace him. They are going RB at some point in the draft and are perfectly positioned to take the best of the bunch with pick #10.
I saw a few article mentioning

Roseman could grab Robinson and 10. And for all the people who whine about RBs that high might want to rewatch the old Seattle film from when when Lynch carried that team and BBI favorite Russel Wilson. And there's literally no one who doesn't believe they don't win that Patriot game had they just handed off to Lynch.

I have nO idea if Robinson is worth that spot or not but it would be a really smart way to protect their offense and Hurts. They are deep and their OL is very good. Makes a lot of sense.
Im more worried
AcesUp : 4/8/2023 3:54 pm : link
That they trade down from 10 to a team looking to jump the Titans for a QB. They’ll continue the trend of getting free first round picks every year.

If they stay put, it’s going to be DL. Way too much talent there for a team that always favors the lines early in the draft. I wouldn’t rule out Bijan in a trade down though or in the event he falls to 30.

They let miles sanders walk because they don’t pay RB’s. They use Gainwell and Scott. They signed Rashad Penny and, yes, they will draft someone. But not at 10. Relax dude.

He doesn't have Sanders's long speed, but he can catch and block, which Sanders lacked.

mock.

Let's just build on last season with a draft that supports the systems we are currently developing.
Howie is not taking a RB
RetroJint : 4/9/2023 7:58 am : link
that early . They didn’t make a serious offer to retain Miles Sanders . In today’s NFL, an RB is in late -middle -age of his career after 3 seasons . Worry about the Eagles getting an excellent player at 10. But I think it’s going to be Defense . Edge or Corner . And at 10 they could probably get a real good even possibly great corner .

Exactly! No serious attempt to keep their starting RB. Instead they added Penny for $1.35M and re-signed Scott for $2M. Backup RB money for backup RB quality to go along with Gainwell, a former 5th rounder in year 3 of his rookie deal. All of which suggests they expect to find their starting RB early in the draft. Of course it doesn't guarantee they will use the 10th overall pick on the position, but it opens it up as a plausible choice. Then consider that Robinson is generally ranked between 3 and 6 by most reputable draftniks, including a #3 ranking from well-respected Daniel Jeremiah and a #5 ranking from our very own Sy'56, who had this to say...
Quote:
Most complete back we have seen since Saquon Barkley. One could make the argument he will make a bigger impact as a receiver than a rusher but no matter the case, this superstar will simply gain a ton of yards and score a ton of touchdowns.
...It makes choosing a RB at #10 a defensible choice even by those who devalue the position. Adding the best RB in the NFL to the offensive weapons they already have will make them very difficult to stop.
