If their intent/preference was to go CB all along, all the predraft talk about weapons for DJ may have prevented Dallas from moving up for Banks.
I wonder if we're still looking to bolster the defense with both picks today? Would any of the remaining WRs have a greater immediate impact than the best available defenders?
I'd bet they were very happy with the board at pick 20. Would've stuck to their board no matter what.
LOL
The pink suit was hot.
I agree, but how many times do you need to hear the phrase, “I’m just ready to get to work”, in one night?
Giants need to work on their smoke.
You think BBI knew that NYG was targeting CBs but the rest of the league was thrown off the scent by some due diligence scouting on similarly graded WRs?
Would have been interesting to see if Flowers was still on the board what would’ve happened.
I remember.

I think they go CB. Seems the younger guys in the room wanted Zay.

Good to know, thanks JonC.

Good tidbit. Was told to look out for the Tenn WR’s today. I know they liked Mayer but he’ll be gone in the first ten picks I would think.
Interesting, thanks for the info. I think they move up a few picks if one of them is sitting there.
that would make a lot of sense given schoen's comments last night (and everything else we've heard).
i assume wink just as badly was hoping to get someone on his side of the ball so would have been interesting to see how that tie got broken.
Probably not an option unless the asking price drops to 3rd round and more.
Oh man, that is great news! I love Mingo, think he can be the darkhorse #1 WR we need, screw the lack of production.
Tillman is good too with nice production but lacks a bit of speed and YAC ability.
The problem with the OP's reasoning is that the Giants traded two picks to move up one spot. That only makes sense if they thought that 1) Jacksonville was going to take Banks, or 2) Dallas or another team was going to jump ahead of them to get them.
The first scenario wouldn't be helped by a smokescreen. They just had to give the Jags enough to move on to their next guy. (Not hard; they traded down again.
If it's the second scenario, it proves that, if anything, if there was a smokescreen, it didn't work. Or, at least, the Giants didn't think it worked. If the Giants thought the Cowboys were convinced NY would take a WR, then the Giants wouldn't have had to move up. They weren't taking any chances because they weren't counting on some Jedi mind trick to get their guy. They had a conviction and got their guy.
