Anyone watching this Celtics/76ers game? Jayson Tatum is 0-10 from the field in the 1st galf and I think they said something like 1-22 in the first half of the last 3 games. He had some terrible turnovers too. Celtics still up 7. Is this a case of the pressure is too high or what, he had some really bad games down the season stretch too.
On another note, Suns lost Deandre Ayton tonight and are now down Paul and Ayton in an elimination game. KD is another one who has not played too well of late.
He was my MVP pick for sure. Him and Giannis were 1 and 2 no matter how you slice it. Jokic makes that team how good it is, he always seems so effortless when he does it too. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Nuggets winning it all this year, though sometimes the rest of those guys dissapear in stretches.
And Mark Jackson says he “forgot” about Jokic and didn’t put him on his MVP ballot by mistake. I’d prefer he just admits that he had anterior motives for Lea him off his ballot instead of lying to our freakin faces like we are all idiots
Fat fingers or auto correct? Lol
Yea, I should have mentioned his defense which was a big reason they were leading at the time. He just seems unsure of himself with the ball sometimes.
Btw, just realized I wrote Giannis but I meant Embiid.
If Harden leaves id be shocked if Embiid doesnt ask out
He's truly unbelievable. It seems like something good happens 90% of the time he touches the ball.
True. As a Nets fan, it is a painful memory. I am content with the direction the team is going in now, but I was salty when Kyrie demanded a trade this year, despite the team winning 21 of their last 22 games with Kyrie and KD healthy...21-1 record and you are going to blow a team up..again.
Anyways I am predicting a Nuggets-Celtics finals and Nuggets in 7
Celtics will blow them out, no way Philly is able to win for a 3rd time on the Celtics home court

I agree, though part me of would love to see a Jokic vs Embiid finals...with all of the MVP commotion this year, that could be epic

partly because I’ll throw a few bucks on a game here and there and partly because I’m annoyed that Jokic didn’t win MVP again so I’ve been watching what he’s done this playoffs and it has been remarkable. I can’t believe it isn’t being talked about more.

That’s just as embarrassing. So you aren’t taking the time to make sure you fill out a correct ballot?
Let’s be honest Jokic is the real mvp but people just didn’t want to give it to him 3 years in a row. He’s the best player in the league and I don’t think it’s even debatable at this point.

on that three point attempt has been a rough stretch. Nets probably win it all that year too if that was a 3. Just amazing what a difference half an inch makes.

I agree about the matchup, but the Celtics would have homecourt if Denver played them. I don't see the Nuggets winning a Game 7 in Boston.

Good point, didn't think about that. Will be a great series either way.
If Jokic and Denver go through AD/LA and Embiid/PHI on the way to a championship, we're going to be having some interesting discussions about Jokic historically. Winning a title in general and we'll have to talk about him as a true legend of the sport.
KD was awful. He was playing so well earlier in the year but this is now 2 straight years of terrible playoff series leading to his team being eliminated. Suns were lucky the Clippers were injured, otherwise Kawhi was looking ready to embarrass KD. His resume is still missing a non-Curry/GSW title, but that's looking kind of unlikely right now.
Great mix of the old, medium, and new guard. And a good mix of homegrown teams and star super teams.

KD is 34 and a few years removed from a serious lower body injury that maybe 1 person has come back from successfully + 2 or 3 other less serious ones peppered in since then. This isn't directed at you, but idk what people expect from him...he needs to play a certain role now in the high energy series. But if he isn't making his mid range shots, he becomes a liability. I think he got to play 12 games with the Suns too before their playoff series and the rest of their team depth is piss poor, so that's another thing to take into account.

It really has been. I was critical of the regular season, but these playoffs are fantastic.
He’s gonna be 35 next season. He’s not the same dude anymore. He may win another title but if he does it’ll be because he’s got plenty of help on whatever team he picks next

These playoffs have been awesome. The biggest disappointment is the number of star players who have been injured.

I accept the regular season as the cost of getting to the playoffs.
This year I watched way less regular season games because of life and work, and honestly didn't feel like I missed out.
I love the current NBA. I think it's a glory years era, and these playoffs prove it to me.
If this was 1985 the best player in the league wouldn't be on an NBA court and would be working a civil service job in Serbia.
The Suns offense without CP3 was just Booker/KD pull-ups. They had no diversity or depth. The CP3 of just 2/3 years ago unlocks that offense and makes them scary. He would've ripped apart Jokic in the PnR, which is something they couldn't do this series.
Suns need to do something about CP3, because they won't win anything until they find a new PG imo.
Harden to Houston.
I think Embiid asks out.
But there is zero question as to who is better between Jokic and Embiid anymore.
Jokic has taken down the KD/Booker Suns and the Kawhi/George Clippers when they were actually healthy. He was by far the best player on the court in both series. The best team Embiid has beaten in the playoffs so far is the 2022 Raptors. Ok team but the best you've ever beat in the playoffs?
And James Harden... ugh. I'm still a Rockets fan and I'll defend the guy to a degree but it's hard to ignore yet another awful big game from him. Personally, I don't want him back in Houston as it makes no sense. I hope he stays in Philly and I'll be rooting for him to finally get over the hump in the playoffs, but it's hard to ever see the Embiid/Harden duo winning it all.
Best player in the game.
Jokic is the best player in the league and it’s quite easy. Take him over Giannis with no hesitation.

IT'S THE PLAYOFFS. That's why. Great coaching. Great defenses. Great opposition. And just when you think you have a particular player all figured out, that same player flips the script in the next postseason.
It’s been basically a done deal for months
Thanks for the info. The report this morning indicated the head coaching candidates were asked during the interview process about coaching Harden, so it seems like a wrap.
A decade or so from now, people are going to look at his stats & resume & think...'Wow. Harden is one of the best shooting guards of all time.' Wrong. He's a loser. He reminds me of CWebb in the clutch, when he would hot potato the ball.
But Houston has the strip clubs so James has gotta return.
The foul trouble took its toll be he’s been great in the 4th, closing the game out.
My younger brother was HS classmates and college roommates with Scott Foster and they are still very close. I know Scott a bit and he’s a good kid. He certainly gets his fair share of abuse from the fans, media, and players, but takes it pretty much in stride. I don’t watch NBA basketball, but my brother clued me in to LeBron running into Scott last night so I came here to see if anything was said about it.
I think the Nuggets win it all. I thought that before the postseason began & I am even more convinced of that now. Denver's the best team with the best dude in Jokic.
yeah, this is crazy - if the Heat sweep the Celts how do the Knicks look - not so bad. This Spo guy has some juju going. ....
Didnt they give him an extension?
Wonder what they could get if they offered up Brown and drsft picks, problem for the celtics is Brown can basically dictate where he goes
Adam Silver might have to spark one up if this happens
Adam Silver might have to spark one up if this happens
The NBA needs to figure out a way to embrace it. They can’t keep hoping it’s a major market team or a team led by LeBron. From my perspective, this finals is sorely needed.

I never understood this. How about we wait to see the ratings rather than pee your pants with anxiety?
Udoka was suspended before the beginning of the season. Mazzulla was the coach for their hot start (21-5, 35-12).
Celtics' personnel limitations are apparent to anyone who watches the games. Tatum and Brown have suspect handles and can be pressured into turnovers. Horford has gotten old, Smart is erratic and the rest of the team flat out isn't that good.
Still one more chance.
Not that it was ever gonna happen but some in here can let go of their Embiid to the Knicks fantasies. No way they brought in Nick Nurse to re-build.

very true.
Philly can keep their playoff choker. We have our own (Randle) and he makes a lot less money going forward.
I dont think he wanted to be the one who broke it up
