NFT: Best door entry smart lock

Giantimistic : 5/13/2023 3:45 pm
I am getting a new entry door and need locks to go with it. I want to get a smart lock and a dead bolt.

What has worked best for you?
Yale Nest Lock

I’ve had this for a few years. Looks good, does the job and you can access it through apps to lock, unlock and give people access through temporary passwords.

Have two. Never had a problem, easy to use.
I have a Level smart lock

Works well, especially when paired with an Apple Home Pod.

I can lock it remotely using Siri and can give other people access to it either permanently or for a short time.

It opens and closes by merely touching it with my Apple Watch. For those that only have iPhones, all you have to do is launch the Level app and touch the lock with the phone.

The lock is the last piece of my smart home, which includes Wyze light bulbs, a Ring security system, and two Ecobee home thermostats.

If something happens to my internet I'm fucked.

I have two Schlage locks

for my garage and front door, but wouldn't label them smart. They're keypad entry and have never given me an issue over the last seven years. I like them because there is no mechanical moving motor. You key in the pass and turn the handle yourself. Because of that the batteries last forever and there is a lot less to go wrong...and they're much cheaper.

Just saw this for Apple.
Schlage wifi smart lock
Old Dirty : 5/15/2023 12:48 pm : link
I just installed the Schlage Encode smart lock with wifi a few months ago & it was a breeze to install. I haven't had any issues whatsoever with it. I even changed the lock mechanism to use my existing house key so I can still use the same key for all the doors. Been wanting to put one on the front door for a while. Kind of wish I did it sooner. I can add temporary codes through the app for someone like a dog walker for example. That way you can track who & when opened the door. It plays nice with google & alexa systems so you can set routines for it.
Have the August Smart Lock.

I went with it since it uses the existing outside deadbolt plate, you only replace the interior portion. Works reasonably well, no complaints.

The inside portion is huge, although I believe newer generations have reduced the size.
Ended up with a Yale lock
