2 games in 13 days is a failure also, especially to end the season. Conference games should be spaced out to spread out injury impact (independent of which 2 teams are playing).
It is good for the league because it maximizes the chance that the Eagles play to win the last game regardless.
divisional games for 3 of 4. Period!
They seem to have too many playoff teams that are non-divisional play then and then have possible rematch in the playoffs.
How complex it must be to lay out a schedule and consider every team. It must be a herculean task when you have to deal with stadium use conflicts, travel, weather considerations, travel, tv schedules etc. It's a miracle it works at all
Maybe the schedule maker’s should start with the last month of the season where everyone is playing divisional games then figure the rest of season from there.

+1.
Even though DC has been semi irrelevant for awhile, they always give Dallas a hard time / upset them the second game, play Philly tough, and give us all we can handle.
I’m thinking Dan Quinn will be the coach of the ‘Girls by Thanksgiving
at the latest. Jerry and McCarthy deserve each other.
In fairness though, I think the focus of the league’s decision makers (ie the network executives) is on the AFC where you now have the best QBs … Mahomes, Herbert, Wilson, Burrows, Jackson, Watson, Rogers, Allen, Tua and even 3 of the top 4 rookie QBs … Stroud, Richardson and Levis.

i read an article about 30 years ago that (at that time) it was done by hand by some married couple from Staten Island. The task is complicated by the availability of the stadiums - some were used by other teams, like the L.A. Coliseum.

the script this year is for Dallas to fall back and be irrelevant and the division to come down to us and the evil empire. Let’s go get it!
It really does feel like that, doesn't it?
Not sure if you saw the Jaguars schedule release video, but it was about this very topic. And although it was hyperbole, it almost felt like they were rubbing it in our faces that it is fake but there is nothing we can do about it without sounding like conspiracy nuts.
You see, not every play needs to be scripted, just the outcome…
This is hands-down the worst schedule they've ever had. It's hard to believe it isn't intentional. Did someone lose a bet or something? They took every scenario the Giants have a hard time winning and distilled it into one nightmare schedule. Opener against Dallas - 5 night games. Closing out 2 of the last 3 against Philly?!
I swear, if they could bring back the 85' Bears, they'd have added them to this schedule.

It's not a herculean task. Sorry, as CPA for 40 years, I can tell you that although it's not easy, it's not really hard to make the permutations work. 36 teams are not a super difficult task to program with equality factors built in. We're in 2023, with some of the most impressive algorithms and AI any of us have ever seem. Folks need to understand, there is simply NO WAY that your program schedules 7 away games for a team at the beginning of a season, plus two games against the division leader at the end of the season and the schedule reviewers don't go in and fix that foolishness. No way! If I'm on the NFL programming board and I see this I say let's go back and fix this. To even think that this outcome is mathematically acceptable is ludicrous.

As long as the Giants are still relevant in December, it's a much better story.

I agree. It's too close.

Would Rather the NFl make you play your whole division the first 3 weeks of December/or 1st 3 weeks after all byes are done.
Think the impact of 3 in a row would be awesome.
It’s like they did this schedule using Madden 2005. Actually, that’s a disservice to madden 2005. The schedule blows.
I don't get it/think it's super stupid. I just can't believe it's unavoidable and certainly can't figure out why the NFL seems to prefer it.

Then they play Browns/Bengals back to back in November and don't play another division game until the Week 18 finale against Pittsburgh.
ESPN and ABC are both owned by Disney. It will be simulcast on ABC weeks 1, 3, 15 and 17.

Ya everyone knows the Disney thing. I haven't watched a MNF game on ABC in 18 years lol just weird to see it again.
