𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: #Jets star DT Quinnen Williams bio now reads: "Defensive Tackle for ………" With his last tweet is a RT of the contract the #Giants gave Dexter Lawrence - $90 million with $60 million guaranteed. Williams is clearly sending the Jets a message as they're working on a new contract and the last report about it is that they two sides "aren't close to an agreement." |
This is what happens whenever anyone is setting a new benchmark deal.

QB takes up an exorbitant amount of cap space.

I'm not sure about that, the top of the market for DTs is very set with the recent contracts, Williams is going to get 4 years and 90-something million.
I can't imagine the Jets don't want to resign him, its more likely they realize they don't currently have the cap space.
Wasn’t he unhappy last year too?
I think the Jets balloon is very full right now. I few early losses and that thing will pop and Rodgers will say something in the press and that whole team will implode.
This is not yet news but there are multitudes of excess media trying to feed at the trough.

Agreed and the players have more leverage than people think. An unhappy Williams can derail a season. It’s the perfect time for him to ask for the moon - Douglas’ job depends on making the playoffs.
I thought it was interesting that Schoen said it is getting very hard to find DT's in college and that it used to be easier. Perhaps explains the DT market taking off the last couple years.
