He seems like a quality young man, making sure he finishes up getting his degree too. I would say "Deandre Baker" he is not!!

We really need to change our luck with first round corners. Here's hoping Banks is the guy.
That’s a great interview

Well worth the 20 minutes to listen. Insightful stuff about Banks work habits and personality. Sounds like we got a good one
Obviously impressed with Banks

Very much so on both accounts.
Ok I'll be the first to say it

Go Terps!
Rally nice interview and commentary about Banks.

He's going to get lit up in some games and possibly for a good portion of the 2023 season because that is what happens with a predominate number of rookie corners. Even the highest of prospects take their lumps as rookies.

Look forward to see if he can handle the adversity and start displaying by the end of the season that he is developing into the role that Schoen/Wink have him marked for, our #1 CB.
Locks is the man!

The players love him.
He actually says

“Smart, Tough, Dependable”. Wow, did realize how connected he was to Daboll.
Finishing the degree

when you are already a millionaire says something to me. Kid has a good head on his shoulders.
I’ve been telling myself the same thing about Banks

That he will likely struggle early. Especially with penalties.
But then I recall rookie CBs success - like the 2 rookies the Seahawks took last season

"He's a good kid, they are all good kids. Because if they weren't, they wouldn't be around our program"

I love it..

There were warning signs with Baker before the Draft if I recall correctly. I don't even think he's in the league anymore.

Yup. Also liked the part where coach says most guys wait until they get to the NFL before they really focus on good habits like their sleep and nutrition, but Banks has since he was a starter as a freshman

Good coaching, which we can confidently say he will receive, goes a long way

Yeah, that was great - thanks for posting. 3 takeaways (among others):

Banks is going to be good.

The Maryland coach is an impressive guy.

Daboll has many friends in the coaching community.
I could say this was one of my favorite

Huddle Podcast interview I have seen and listen to. Great guest! Very informative and seems like a no nonsense coach. I like the comment that he made about Tae Banks not realizing who he is going to be facing for a wide receiver, saying that he’s dumb enough not to know it.
The best part for me
RCPhoenix : 5/17/2023 2:57 pm : link
Was when he talked about teaching the CBs to think like receivers and try to catch the ball, and where Banks has an advantage b/c he had played receiver. I can't remember if Locksley said this directly but I thought he said "get your head turned around when the ball is thrown" instead of "trying to hit the receivers hands", or something to that effect.

Seems like there are always receptions in games where the DB sees the receiver try to catch the ball and does not turn his head, and if the CB turned his head around he could make a much better play on the ball. It's maddening to watch, I know it's not that simple of a fix.
Everything about Banks

shows how much work this regime puts into knowing what they are buying before the write the check. Some guys may not work out, but they aren't getting fooled in the process.
