The entire organization sucks. Going after Judge from the announcer’s to the manger. Screw them and their fans. Our announcers take the high ground on how wonderful Toronto is…screw them too Kay and Cone
He may not have had anything bad on his hand, but he has to have clean hands returning to the mound. So residual tackiness from previous inning cannot be there. Same crew from last week that made him wipe his hands off.
Coney said all his spin rates were normal, so that means he probably wasn't using anything illegal.
again on the bases...getting hits but dumb on the bases
That was not a dumb play. It was a great play and throw by Varsho. You can't only run when you are 100% sure you're gonna make it. You put pressure on the D and make them make the plays. You just have to tip your cap to Varsho.

He was out by 10 feet, with Judge coming up. He could see the play in front of him. Not dumb, but way to aggressive and not smart.

They didn’t even appear to agree that there was something on his hand. One guy felt German’s hand, then the other guy had to point out where he fet something.
to go along with odd base running and odd defense.
Super-odd, but Judge straightened it out.
You say odd, I’ll say the shit made no sense at all. He wasn’t bunting for a hit. He was trying to sacrifice. How is taking the bat out of Cap’s hands a win for the Yankees.

The way they talked about it, he cannot have sticky coming off the bench, even if rosin.
Apparently that is what he got warned about last week by the same crew.
Waiting for Holmes to collapse...no confidence in him anymore.
They've played well since Judge came back. We're nowhere in the neighborhood of full strength and I haven't seen anything in multiple series vs both Tampa and Toronto that says we can't compete. Tampa may be too far ahead and too good for the regular season division but in a short series we can play with them.

Tampa is a very good team, yeah, but half of their lineup is journeymen nobodies hitting like Aaron Judge. That shit will revert to the mean at some point.

This is likely true. This division is clearly in another class vs any other in baseball. Every team above .500 and IMV may stay that way.
Next two weeks will be rough with only 4 starters and 8 RPs because of Germans suspension. The explanation will be interesting of why Blake or Boone did not know enough to prevent it. My guess is that all he had on his hand was legal rosin.
that German's hand was the stickiest he ever saw and he had "trouble" removing his fingers from German's hand. If it was so sticky, why did he bring all 4 umpires over to check and why did it take so long to make up their minds?(perhaps rules require all 4 agree?) You also cannot tell everything on the TV, but it sure didn't look like he had an issue with removing his fingers from German's hand.
I am not in doubt his hand was tacky nor that the ejection was warranted per the rules. But to say it was not rosin is questionable. Coney showed sufficient legal rosin can glue a ball to a palm and keep it there upside down.
But as Cone said, all of German's spins rates were with 50 rpm of normal - he said an increase of about 300 is what you should expect if something was wrong.

Yup and Tampa had a disproportionate number of games early on against teams that should be relegated to AAA like the As and Nationals. They’re legit, but no way they’re uncatchable as of mid-May
Best part of Yanks stepping it up in the past 2 weeks is they’ve hit some of the best pitchers in baseball like McClanahan and Manoa pretty well. Manoa seemed off the other night, but that doesn’t discount the Yanks ripping a guy who’s mostly dominated them the past couple years
The results certainly speak otherwise but on TV there
doesn’t seem to be an uptick on German’s stuff. His FB is still 91-93 and straight. His curve seems the same as well, not sharper or tighter, people just seem to have more difficulty identifying it. Looks like he’s scrapped the change.
No matter what, I can’t wait for him and Schmidt to be replaced.

They won't have 4 starters. Severino steps in for German and Brito gets to stay around for a couple more starts. They will be down one in the bullpen but that means they will be at pre-Covid levels.

German is a good pitcher. Period. He has stuff to be a #2/#3. To have him as the #5 is very good. He does have control issues, but when he is on, he is very good. The reason he is a #4/#5 is control issues.
Not going to quibble too much on the FB, but it sits 93/94 and tops at 95/96. Maybe his slider is 91.

Schmidt isn’t a major league starter. German is and he’s one that a team could do a lot worse than. See the first name I mentioned.
Really? Holy cow
Coney said all his spin rates were normal, so that means he probably wasn't using anything illegal.
really frustrating - that was a great AB. that being said, if Varsho hadnt played it perfectly he’s in easy
IKF owns Gausman, check his h2h history

Yup - Scherzer had to sit 10 games earlier this year

As Marinaccio self destructs as usual....

If that isn’t perfect idk what is

He's uneven. Some excellent pitches and some terrible ones. He barely got through the 8th and the 9th will be a challenge.
IKF has been sensational this game.

Just mindless ramblings - so get off my lawn.
