I hope this means Hicks doesn’t have to play now because Boone likes to put a couple of “L’s” in the lineup.

Yes. He's never hit much at any level, though.

I was beginning to think that he bought a summer home with Jacoby Ellsbury.
Btw, Rortvedt is pretty ripped
CasualFan : 5/18/2023 5:20 pm : link
curious to see him play.

Ian Hamilton's groin pull will keep him out for 4 weeks. Sucks. He made an impact.
Did Judge cheat or is he just kicking Blue Jay ass again?

2-0 Yanks.
Hicks
GruningsOnTheHill : 5/18/2023 7:31 pm : link
Just struck out on a 3-2 pitch down the middle to end the inning.

DFA this poor fucker and put him out of his misery. The money is spent; time to cut bait and move on.
Hicks with a clutch RBI single
bceagle05 : 5/18/2023 9:20 pm : link
and Abreu with a clean inning. Three outs away from a big series win.
How they kept this lead with Weber and Abreu on the mound
shockeyisthebest8056 : 5/18/2023 9:21 pm : link
I have no idea.
Had no faith at all in Abreu but he looked like Mo for an inning.
bceagle05 : 5/18/2023 9:27 pm : link
Now a Volpe bomb! 4-2.

Lol completely agree but bought himself another two weeks playing tome tonight.
Volpe is third on the team in HRs and third in walks

4 from the Jays....they have some guts, to say the least.
Could have and maybe should have done the same with the Rays.

Scrappy bunch. Can't deny that. And 3 hits for Hicks? That's usually a month.

Volpe’s talent is obvious

Being able to turn on an inside 99 mph fastball and smoke a bullet off the foul pole isn’t something most hitters can do. The batting average will come. He’s making great contact.

Man I wish Abreu could put it all together. He has an electric arm.

Patience, fellas. I remember one year when Jerry Girard described Greg Nettles slow start “Nettles is 0 for April…”

Yup, they battle for sure.

So far this year hasn’t been as smooth and easy as last, or as much fun to watch but maybe that’s what’ll have them battle tested and ready to roll in October.

Amazing the difference in the team hen Judge is in there and not on the IL. Hopefully Stanton will be back soon and give the O another big boost.

Looking forward to seeing Sevy start this weekend. They need him big time and if he’s anything close to the talent level we know he has, that’ll be huge for the team.

That's a good series win, north of the border, tough place to win. Oh yeah, waiting with bated breath for Stanton who invariably comes back and struggles for two weeks until he hits for about a week or so...gives them about three weeks of production a season in reality. Between his IL stints and non-production. I am down on that guy, tired of his IL stints and his slumps, just a BAD contract around here.
I said it from the outset with him. On the other hand, Bader is the best defensive CF'er they have had here in a LONG time. Lets see Hicksie, Grandy man, Damon...yeah I'll take Bader in a heartbeat. If you want to nitpick with him, his long throws can be a little loopy, but covering the outfield, and the jumps, just very good, and takes direct routes to the ball! If he stays healthy, he will get a nice contract, free agent at the end of the season! On to Cincy.

Agreed on Bader. It’s great having someone that good out in CF. The guy gets great jumps and seems to get to everything. He’s already made some great ones this year in big spots.

I get the Stanton points but I’m on the other side. Certainly frustrated by his injuries but he’s been great in the playoffs, and I think he’s got it in him to carry the team for a while when he’s going good. Seems like a great teammate and standup guy so I’m in his corner.

Mets calling up Gary Sanchez per ESPN. Huh - didn't even know he was in their system. Good for him.

Volpe needs to cut down on his strikeouts, earlier in the season was drawing more walks. The HP umps are not doing him any favors so far either. It seems like any close pitch with two strikes, they are ringing him up, did it last night too!

And If Judge's long drive in the 9th inning last Sunday carries a few feet further, maybe we're talking 3 of 4 from the Rays and Jays! Either way, they are playing alot better lately. Lets not hope there is a letdown now against the Reds
