I see Mark Haynes in that comparison. Never was a ball hawk but was a fantastic shut-down corner. He is currently wearing Mark Haynes’s number as well.

think Mark Collins when I see Banks. Better 1980s comparison would be the Raiders corners of Lester Hayes/Mike Haynes.

Mark Haynes too, but I was talking about Mike Haynes. The Raiders used to play aggressive man-to-man, bump-and-run coverage in that defense. They had an attitude.
When I watched Carl Banks, my impression is he was talking about the physicality of Mark Collins and Tae Banks in run defense. When I think of Bill Belichick's old defenses, I think zone coverage, not man.
Hope that excuse works for you. My wife never accepts it.

Hahahahahahahaha
Eric, the point Carl made was that like Collins, Banks can come right in and start. He was not referring to their playing style.
Collins was an excellent press corner and could support the run well. Let's see how Banks measures up after the first season.
Mark Collins was a far superior player to Corey Webster . With “Where did he go ?” Webster , the Giants lost quite a few winnable games . And when their Giants careers ended , Mark went on to have an entire second career as a safety for the Chiefs and Seahawks . Webster did what exactly ?
Furthermore Parcells said Collins was one of the three most integral defenders in having success against the Niners. Were it not for the Giants , the San Francisco would have two additional Super Bowls .

Bingo! to Mike. Body type is eerily similar to #36, thick for a Corner, but nimble, wiry and strong. And yes, not a ball hawk as such--'Tae may turn out better in that dep't
