Was he the guy everyone made a big deal about for a speeding ticket? That was by far the most overblown story ever. And the coaching staff made a piss about it at the time.

I thought it was something about him trying to avoid a traffic re-routing situation and coming close to hitting a cop who was on duty.

was one of Gentleman's dumbest draft picks, which says a lot considering how many day three picks he outright wasted. He took Lauletta in the fourth round even though the Giants still had Davis Webb. Webb obviously wasn't going to succeed Eli, but neither was a weak-armed QB from Richmond. Lauletta wasn't even a viable backup QB. That was also the same year DG traded a fourth and a sixth for Alec Ogletree and a seventh.

Optimum Scouting loves him

Kyle Lauletta was our QB4 coming into this draft, above Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen.

He’s got a lot of similarities, on field and mentally, to Jimmy Garoppolo.

Great opportunity with the #Giants now. And his chip on his shoulder has only grown. You got a good one, NY.

As for the traffic charges:
Quote:
eluding police, obstructing administration of law, resisting arrest, reckless driving, disregarding an officer's directions, improper turn in a marked traffic lane and failure to remain in a marked lane.

I think the Giants' angle of displeasure was that the reason he was in such a rush is that he was late for practice, and it wasn't the first time.

I guess when you know, you know, huh ??

Quote:
"I think he’s got all the traits, all the things you’re looking for in a quarterback. He’s tall enough, he’s got good mobility and really arm strength is about fourth on the list. You have to be a good decision-maker, you have to have a sense of timing and you have to throw an accurate ball, which he does. He does all those three things well and he uses his feet to get the ball where he needs to get it and that’s really what I was impressed by – he’s got a good set of legs, he’s tall enough, he’s a winner, he’s got moxie, he’s very competitive and so we’re glad to add him to the group and he’s one of those guys that’s going to come in and compete and be as good as he can be. If at some point he is not the starter, then he is going to do what he can to help the starter be good and that’s what I’m talking about when I say we want a great quarterback room. I’m really thrilled that we could bring him in and try to develop him and see how good he can be." - Pat Shurmur

It made sense. For three years in a row DG drafted the Senior Bowl MVP (Webb,Lauletta, DJ)
