NFT: Giants Podcast Reccomendations

CozySunday : 5/22/2023 1:55 pm
I am not well-versed in sports podcasts. I would like some recommendations about Giants podcasts. I am not sure exactly what I am looking for. I tried the Giants Huddle through giants.com and found it dry. Thanks!
I have 2 that make the weekly rotation

Talkin Giants and Big Blue Banter.
I listen to
JoeyBigBlue : 5/22/2023 2:12 pm : link
Talkin Giants with Bobby Skinner and Justin Penik. Bobby is knowledgeable on O-line play and is good at the ins and outs of the game. Justin is a stats guy.
BLEAV in Giants with Bob Papa and Carl Banks is good.

It's consistent during the season, not so much in the offseason.
There are 4 that I cycle through in order, with my thoughts.

1. Breaking Big Blue (Jordan Ranaan) - Jordan gives you the most inside information and informed takes based on his sources inside of the building. It's not a technical podcast, but a light but educated one.
2. The Giant Insider - Jerry and Chris' style is like two guys talking about the Giants in a bar. Again, they don't get into the technical views, but it's a light hearted podcast thats entertaining.
3. Big Blue Banter - Here is your heavy on technique podcast. These guys really get into the weeds on the team. I like them when I have free time, but I rarely can devote an hour to really listening closely and understanding what they are talking about.
4. Talkin' Giants - They are a mix of technical and light hearted. It's OK, I just find Bobby to be really conceeded and both try to be funny and neither really are. I listen to them from time to time because they put out the most content, but if any of the above 3 put out content at the same time as them, I'll go with them.

I post their YouTube uploads here as much as possible, for those like me who don't listen to the podcasts.

Funny, I was thinking of emailing Eric with that very suggestion. You two would make a great team, and their are several members who'd make excellent guests, like Y28, truebluelarry, Matt in SGS, and Big Blue Blogger.
The Entertainah is fun

He's not as knowledgeable/detailed as the others mentioned, but he's in my rotation. (And likely the OP won't find him as dry.) He's on youtube.

I just started this year and have been listening to four

Big Blue Banter is my favorite. They are very in depth and knowledgeable. Lot of film breakdown. But some may find it too technical.

Talkin Giants. Pretty good. Not as in depth as Big Blue Banter. But they do a good job overall.

BLEAV Giants is Carl Banks and Papa. Its Ok but some may find them to be sometimes homer-ish. During the season, its good to get their perspective on the prior game. Their off season stuff is more superficial then the two above.

Giant Insider. I prefer the three above but i still tune in occasionally.

I like him, and Baddog, too. They remind me of a lot of guys I grew up with. No x's and o's or film study...just raw emotion.

Yup, Baddog too. I actually like listening to their play-by-play while watching the game. Found them during the Judge years and they made it easier to get some enjoyment out of the games.

#1 in the rotation.

Really a good listen every time.
Every one mentioned so far...

I listen to those regularly. Talkin Giants mainly as a fan because it is really fun, Big Blue Banter to get smarter about football. Sometimes I listen to Ed Valentine and Tony DelGenio, but Ed is usually just a grumpy old man (like me) so I don't dig that as well as the others.

Adrianna who interviewed Bobby Johnson, that is one to watch, see how that goes.

BTW, if BBV write Rivka Boord starts doing a podcast, get in on that, she writes some solid articles.
The Blue Rush is also ok
D HOS : 5/22/2023 4:01 pm : link
NY Post - Schwartz and Lawrence Tynes. Ranann's is good until that super loud whoosh sound comes in and makes me jump out of my skin. Every. Time.

I second this. I like Breaking Big Blue and check out one or two others sometimes, but TAGF is exactly like talking Giants with your buddies (albeit if your buddies can get a little too cranky over officiating lol). Fans under 40 might not appreciate some cultural references and nostalgia for their dads’ NFL, but these guys are knowledgeable and entertaining.

With BBB, Jordan calls it like he’s sees it and more often than not, he’s right. Like many print journalists, I don’t think this platform came naturally to him, but over time he became much more comfortable and adept - and don’t forget, the podcast is only a part of his job. At first, I wasn’t sure I liked his cadence and overall style, but I’ve come to find Jordan likable and hope he’s on the beat long enough to cover the Giants winning another Super Bowl.
That would be a great recap episode.

with Art Stapleton. Forgot to mention his ‘cast. I started listening late last season and now I’m a regular. Another original print guy who’s maybe not a natural for a broadcast platform, but he has an honest, knowledgeable perspective, has good interviews and seems to really be invested in giving listeners all he can.
I listen to all of the podcasts on this thread
GiantSteps : 5/23/2023 12:11 pm : link
They're all good compliments to each other, and add a lot to the season and keep the offseason fun. I recommend listening to as many of these as you can handle. None of the named podcasts in this thread are crappy.
