In Judge's last year, during training camp, He looked really poised to have a really big year, but the injury bug got him again. He just can't stay healthy.
That said, he is one guy I want to have a breakout monster year. I'm not optimistic though because of his injury history... but I would so love to be wrong. He is such an easy guy to root for.
Cool, maybe 2023 will finally be his breakout year

Shepherd, at his best, is a move the chain guy. He is never going to have a "monster" year
That could be it, but I think there is 1 more spot for one of these guys..
Colin Johnson, Jeff Smith, Jaydon Mickens, Kalil Pimpleton, David Sills, Ford-Wheaton, Makai Polk
I think it's either Colin Johnson (big target WR) or Jeff Smith for special teams.
Certainly not worried about Shepard taken one of their spots though. Especially if Wan'Dale starts the year of the PUP. But even when he comes back I'm keeping Shepard over Crowder. Crowder can battle with Smith for a special teams role.
Rooting for a full recovery and injury free season
off just like he has done every year. The reality is he can never stay healthy and is not young from a football perspective.
I’d rather see the team keep a young guy like Ford-Wheaton or a relatively young player like Collin Johnson than Shepard at this point.
That being said, the Giants would be wise to stash Shepard on the PUP even if he could potentially start week 1 just to have him in reserve in case someone else goes down.
one more time. The organization seems to place significant value in his leadership and BD had him traveling with the team quickly when he was injured. Good point about his run blocking.
Most people think that the Giants are at least a year or two away from
being Super Bowl contenders. If that is what the Giants also think, would the Giants prefer to keep a healthy 26-year-old WR, or an often injured 30-year-old?
Shepard has earned his $41,000,000.00, but I doubt the Giants would want to keep him if we have other WRs with more "potential."

I somewhat agree. He would never be Ja'Marr Chase obviously... lol... but Judge's last year he was looking really shifty with more explosiveness in training camp and preseason plus he looked really confident. I was so disappointed for him getting injured again that year.
RE: Shepard looked good before the injury last year
Hope he has a great season and stays healthy. He can help this team beyond being a coach on the field. Just his blocking alone...what an asset!
Agreed. I don't agree with those who think he's cooked. Give him a chance. He deserves it
Shep is all around great guy who will one day be a great coach and leader (and hopefully in some capacity here). But, saying you hope he doesnt get injured when he returns to football would be the equivalent of saying you hope Al Capone stays out of trouble as they release him from jail.
like you’d be hoping the guy who’s roster spot he takes would pan out and be a positive addition. I didn’t think Shep would be back but he is and while he’s healthy he’s likely one of our top 3 WRs. It’s a risk but there isn’t much downside to it.
high floor/low ceiling guy, 30yo with an awful, recent injury history. If he beats out the other guys, so be it. But I don't care if he's Miss Congeniality, one of the stupidest things a coach can do is keep a guy for sentimental reasons and it sounds like a lot of BBI are willing to do that.

Only four guys are sign beyond 2023...who you worried about losing?
We have great depth and there are guys I'm rooting for, but there isn't anyone I'm worried about losing at the bottom of the roster.
Good time to discuss the depth chart...
WR1 Slayton, Hyatt
WR2 Hodgins, Campbell
WR3 (slot) Shepard, Crowder, (Wan'dale PUP)

A monster year IS moving the chains.
