to me it's an absolute necessity as good ones just add so much toughness and versatility. If I had my way we'd always run a two TE offense. But you need the players. Looks like we finally have them.

I prefer 11 personnel over 10 in almost any situation. A TE is a versatile mis-matchy piece lined up in the middle of the field (usually) in the QBs immediate line of sight.
Didn' seem to be important to the giants for a while.
This is why you love the Schoen / Daboll connection. No way in hell Schoen's gonna bring a major piece in, only for Dabs not to use him. Happens all the time in the NFL. See the terrible synergy between Judge & Gettleman.
The Giants will have a plan with their player acquisitions.
If they can build the offense around DJ/Barkley/Waller going in different directions, that's tough to defend.
biggest FA signing on offense. Just based on Kafka being in KC, they are going to have some schemes for him. He is going to make a huge impact, even if its just freeing up the outside for Hyatt to run down the field.
While we may like what he's saying, this is the same guy who was making stuff up about DJ throwing INTs in practice last year.
Well as we later found out that was legit happening, and Daboll planned it out like that to test his toughness. So the writers were in fact not lying. They were accurately reporting what was going on.
Defenses must account for Waller. That’s big compared to your average
TE. I don’t think this will hurt Bellinger either, although I don’t think Waller setting an example for Bellinger is particularly important. I think Bellinger will get as many passes thrown his way as last year. Maybe more. And if you are worried about Waller’s injury history, Cager may be a suitable backup if Waller misses some plays or games.
Waller may take passes away from the WR group. Not from TEs.
considering what we had then at wide receiver and what we didn't have.
Forced pick IMO because they list out on Smith to the Eagles. Gambled foolishly and lost. I never liked the pick. Off field issues were enough for me especially hearing it from Sy.
focal point of the passing offense. That's been obvious for awhile. ALL the other pieces that have been acquired will work off that. No reason Jones shouldn't progress in this offense, second year. If the OL can step up, and Barkley gets his head together, than this offense can be a REALLY potent one.
Its pretty easy to see just HOW good this team can be.
Like a moron, Gettleman & the FO couldn't hide their love for Smith. I think my daughter's best friend even knew we were enamored with Smith, thus forcing the Eagles to move up & take him & us standing their with our dicks in our hands.
When he was traded I said "thank God he's gone", but to use the picks attained in that trade to acquire Waller is pure genius by Joe Schoen and Brandon Brown!
nuts to let Toney return punts in the superbowl. Even though he made a huge return which contributed to the win - if you go back and look at that play again you will see a very awkward fielding of that punt. Could have been a disaster
Kafka-Kelce
Daboll-Gronk
not sure why this is hard to figure out for some people.

Not to mention what a prominent role Knox played in the Bills offense.
Toney can't.
(Oh burn...)
Good riddance.
Damn good trade. For us!

I'm pretty sure Waller already has more preseason practice with the Giants already.

yeah, but Waller is a veteran and was able to come to camp already knowing his shoe size
I'd much prefer lots of weapons and speed than one guy everyone knows to key on -- unless that guy is the TE.
The Giants have guys who can beat press (Hodgins and Slayton), plus Campbell, plus the cornucopia of other intriguing yet unproven guys.
Campbell played 2/3s slot but the Colts have 2 big WRs who are prototype outside guys.
Health, always an issue, becomes more critical when that alpha guy does down.
With decent health we're going to be in great shape (even if/when Waller misses a few games).

Bellinger a nice safety valve, move the chains guy with some upside
Not to mention it can't hurt Bellinger learning from Waller and seeing him every day in practice. I think it will be huge for his development
What really makes that offense go is a good OL and running game.
Once you are able to consistently be ahead of the chains it is a tough offense to deal with imv when D's have to defend both the run/pass.
Might be talking myself into getting his jersey.
Win win

If Waller fights the good fight against Father Time then that draft pick will put us in good shape for a few years.
Everyone’s happy.

Win win
Mara should place a Toney statue at the entrance of Metlife.
Just with Gronk and Kelce alone, I think you can make a case that there is a very strong correlation between having a good TE and winning a SB.
Seems to have been lost on the Giants for years.
