NFT: Square or Toast for Restaurant POS?

Mook80 : 5/25/2023 9:47 pm
I'm switching POS systems at our restaurant and I'm torn on Square vs Toast. Square offered me a hell of a deal to switch to them, Toast offered a decent deal but they aren't working as hard to gain my business. I know toast is restaurant only which is a plus but square made a really good presentation but in my area almost no one has square as a restaurant. It seems like in major cities a lot of restaurants use square a hell of a lot more than they do here. Anyone here own a restaurant and have personal experience with either one? I need to make this decision by the end of the month and I'm torn. It's a pizza place/sit down restaurant if that matters. Will need online ordering capabilities etc which is the reason i'm switching from previous POS system and to save a bunch if processing fees

Square is projected to steadily increase its market share. I think it is the better investment longterm

I’ve been using Square for almost two years, there’s been hiccups here and there but overall it’s pretty solid. However I know a lot of restaurants that use toast and absolutely love it. If rates and fees are close to the same, I would suggest toast.
Just one word of caution when reading online review ARTICLES...

when you google restaurant POS systems.

Often times the articles you see ranking near the top of google are recommending companies based upon their "review" which is not a review based upon truly using the product.

In addition, they will review companies/POS systems where an affiliate commission is provided. So, are you seeing ALL of the top companies being listed or only the ones that pay an affiliate commission?
