Dunleavy does a great job, but I disagree with his talk regarding Barkley.

He indicates that his belief is that the issue is the amount of guaranteed money. Certainly we all agree with that.

But Dunleavy states that Barkley "can just play on the TAG the next two seasons and be guaranteed $10.1 and $12.4 for a total of $22.5 guaranteed".

Dunleavy assumes that the Giants would give Barkley another TAG next year. I totally disagree, especially as the running back market continues to change (Ekler last week) downward.

The Giants really control this situation. They could decide not to TAG Barkley in 2024. That would make him a free agent, and the Giants could get a Comp Pick depending on his new teams contract.

I am still hopeful this gets done, though I have a different take then Dunleavy regarding a 2nd TAG from the Giants.

Plus Barkley could get hurt again.
I think Dunleavy

is a very good reporter, but a poor analyst and evaluator.

admits he's not an X and Os guy. If you cover football daily, shouldn't you at least learn it a bit to make you a better analyst. It basically confirms he doesn't know what he's watching. Still a good reporter, but I can't give his football opinions much weight when he admits this.
