QBs usually don't go from good to bad just like that. Not without the team crumbling around him. Not without mitigating factors. Eli in 2013 comes to mind.
Jones was fine as a rookie with some warts. He was lost in the madness of king dumb dumb from 20-21 but was still the best player on offense.
Maybe that thought process is too hard for some to consider.
I think another year in the system is big for him and I am fairly optimistic - I still don't think it's a slam dunk the talent around him improved significantly (although there's no where to go but up).
Would you've preferred another discussion of Saquon's situation, or how thin we are at Edge, or how much we're going to miss Julian Love, or what the future holds for Evan Neal?
Or, maybe you'd prefer another gem like this, which scored a respectable 6.5 on the PhilD Title Scale.
Most that supported DJ did so when weighing against so many saying he was awful and wild never be more than a backup in the NFL. Those supporters have already been proven right in that he showed enough to win this staff over and be signed for another contract.
Now we all root for him to continue to improve under this coach and take his game further yet. Following these types of things with players on your team is just one of the many things that makes being a fan fun.
And if he is great, will the haters finally admit they were wrong? Or will they keep making excuses for other QB’s while moving the goalposts and keep trying to bang on Jones?
......delegate......and become great! hit the new speedy receivers in stride, this will be the most offensive separation he has ever seen. make opposing defenses pay!

DJ was fine last year. Majority of the time he didn't have anyone that could get open. We all can look at that last playoff game and talk about how much we were dominated. DJ didn't play bad. He just had nowhere to put the ball. Every time he dropped back there was no one to throw it to. It will be nice to see him play with receivers that can get some separation.
Hopefully with the players we've added this year are good players will not get double and triple teamed as much.
He played well in some clutch games and against decent opponents. When the dust settles he's going to be paid like a mid-range quarterback. So us worrying about the contract is going to be nothing in a couple years
I don’t understand posts like this. Does this mean you don’t think Daboll and Schoen are any good at their jobs either? If the two of them, after the season they just put together with a depleted Gettleman shit roster, think that DJ is worth being paid then why would you think this way? I think that Daboll and Schoen, two guys who know much more about football talent than any of us, would be given the benefit of the doubt in paying Jones. They were in no way in need of forcing a desperate QB pick. The fans have been through a decade plus of shit football. We would have absolutely let them toss Jones to the side and wait til they were in position to land the guy they wanted for the future. Instead they coached and led the kid for a season a decided this is the guy they want for this team the next few season cause they believe they can win with him.
It boggles my mind that some fans don’t respect these two guys evaluation and decision to pay him. It’s like you must be rooting for his failure even though if he fails your favorite team fails. And if he ends up doing well and bringing home a Lobardi you’ll probably say they did it IN SPITE of Jones. SMH I truly don’t understand this thinking.

Speaking of the last playoff game, how did hurts look one season prior to whooping us in this playoff game? He looked awful, and one year later he was in the Super Bowl. And hurts made that leap by busting his ass all off season determined to become a better QB. Oh, and his GM loaded up the talent around him to make sure he had players to work with. Jones got to the divisional round of the playoffs with receivers that wouldn’t even make the eagles roster as a 4th or 5th option. AND when Hurts played like crap the year before he still had way more talent around him than Jones had this year. So how about we all give Jones/Schoen/Daboll some credit and belief that they can take the next step and succeed.
I believe Jones has the same drive and will to learn and better himself that Hurts had. It’s just a matter if he retains it and is able to make that next step that Hurts did, AND the new weapons around Jones play up to their abilities.
I could be wrong, but i don't think Klaatu is a Jones hater. The OP was in fun.
Of course it was in fun. It wasn't about Jones...it was a reaction to one guy starting two threads (one of which has since been deleted) about Jones not having to be great or something. It was a joke. I figured the picture would be a dead giveaway. You'd have to be pretty dense not to recognize that this was completely unserious.
For the record, I was never a Jones "hater," which is a word I despise. I admit to being a skeptic, but he won me over with his play this year. I said as much in several posts at the end of the season.

All I said is he is getting paid commensurate to what he is: a bit above average.
Depends on why he sucks.

What excuses will DJ fans give?

Maybe the "excuses" were right after all? Just own it and move on already.
Well, as of today, he only has one proven offensive lineman :)
Lighten up, Francis.

DJ haters during last season:
If you think this is about "DJ hate," you're an even bigger fool than I thought. Buy a clue.

Post is just another long line of DJ hate. Same people that hated him still hate.Nothing has changed. Just another wasted post.

Yep, 15 seconds of my life I'll ever get back...
Of course everyone knows shitty coaching, OL and receivers are just excuses and irrelevant to a QBs performance.
Must suck to have this very shitty attitude. How are you going to feel when he doesn't suck? Sad? Mad? Disappointed?
I’m a believer but if he sucks this year I’ll admit I was wrong.
