"Yeah, they value our opinions here," Waller said Thursday after standing out in the Giants' third OTA workout this spring. "As a player, I feel like a lot of places I've gone, you're told to do things a certain way and you do those things. But here it's like, they ask a lot of questions. They want to know what you're thinking, what you want to do more.
"So to offer input is a really cool thing because coaches and players have to be in partnership. We're all together and shouldn't be clashing with each other. We're all going in the same direction." |

"It's different from team to team. I'm on my third now. There's different cultures everywhere you go. There is different types of energies," Waller said. "This is a really light place, a really fun place, a really empowering place where you just be yourself always. And as long as you're not putting the team at risk by getting a flag or things like that, you can really let your personality show.
"That's what I love about being here. It's just been fun. It's also been challenging. Guys holding you to a high standard since I got here and I try to reciprocate that."

true dat
Recall how hot he got in Jack Anderson's face after the backup OL false started on a key 3rd down snap. Dabes was really lit. Yet, after Darius Slayton's unbelievable drop on a 1st down making completion, if he had held on to the ball with no defender within 4 yards vs the Vikings, BD sought him out on the sideline to support and offer encouragement--we need you in this game. Doesn't get much more authentic than those. Heart on his sleeve, but always in charge.

I don’t think there’s any doubt who is in charge. Sort of the opposite of the previous coach, who seemed to aspire to be a Belichik-style autocrat but always seemed to encounter resistance. The old guy was kind of a poseur. Daboll seems to be authentic.

If not mistaken, Dabs initially displayed quite a lot of anger after Slayton's drop, but he then went over to him and gave him encouragement. But your point is totally right. Authentic.

+1
Credit should also extend to John Mara for hiring Daboll and Schoen, who are both polar opposites of their predecessors. Mara blew it big time with Judge, abut he turned around nailed it with Schoen and Co.
A sharp turnaround like 2022 is hard to pull off, Mara’s apparently getting better advice and he’s listening to it.
Judge’s idea of the above was diving on balls during fumble drills.
