Notes:
-Mets are a game above .500 and in 2nd place in the NL East.
-Mets would be in the playoffs as one of the three wildcards if the season ended today.
-Vientos is sitting again today in place of Voyeurwalker.
-Pham's in the lineup instead of Canha in LF.
Buck can take a hike for all I care.

He’s a caricature.
Play Baty or Vientos in LF
Mike in NY : 5/26/2023 6:03 pm : link
Pham and Bartolo Jr. have no place in a lineup over any of the prospects
The Pillsbury Batboy is a three tool player.
Optimus-NY : 5/26/2023 6:09 pm : link
Two of his tools are a knife and a fork.
Vientos
GF1080 : 5/26/2023 6:43 pm : link
Now that Buck has cooled Vientos off when he does actually start him once he'll probably struggle. The way to ruin a hitting prospect here.
Sickening
moze1021 : 5/26/2023 6:44 pm : link
Stubborness
I guess this proves that

Uncle Steve is NOT a meddling owner.
I don't get Buck
ripdumaine : 5/26/2023 6:45 pm : link
Anymore....why does he hate Vientos or better yet what is to love about Vogelbach. Cut Pham leave McNeil in LF bring up Mauricio at 2nd bury Vogelbach as pH only Canha as 4th of
Is Buck trolling us?
Drewcon40 : 5/26/2023 6:50 pm : link
The Vogelbach story last year was cute but come on already. Can we be a serious franchise for once. Is it because our name ends in “ETS”?
Really just stupid at this point
Sammo85 : 5/26/2023 6:53 pm : link
Buck is terrible and needs to go.
Buck did say Vientos is going to play the next 3 games
Metnut : 5/26/2023 7:10 pm : link
after this one. So weird how they are handling this.
Why even
MyNameIsMyName : 5/26/2023 7:48 pm : link
Call Vientos up if Bucks not going to play him? This is idiotic, per usual with the Mets. Cohen needs to step in

Yeah, because we are facing two LHPs over the next three games. Hes platooning them when he should just be playing Vientos most of the time. It’s tiresome.
Buck is loyal to Vogelbach because

of all the clutch home runs that carried the Mets to the division title and deep into the playoffs. Buck knows the Mets couldn’t have done it without him.

Oh… wait…

Good 1 Optimus-NY!

We'd all be better off if he replaced those tools with chop sticks

I can't take credit for that one. I saw it in the comments section of an article from the NY Post. The Pillsbury Batboy moniker is mine though!

Good one about the chop sticks. How did the Pirates organization allow him to develop with them looking like that? Lose some weight and have some pride in being a professional athlete. Worse yet, the Pirates were ok with it.
Pham needs to be

He could look like John Kruk or Tony Gwinn and it wouldn't matter. He's just not that good.
it's flat out incompetent to play pham/vogelbach
Eric on Li : 5/27/2023 10:16 am : link
as much as they have while wasting a young guy on the bench.

as if the actual results don't make that plainly obvious enough, or the logic of wasting time on 2 dead ends only signed for a few more months vs a young guy with 6+ years of control, here's another proof point of their philosophy not working - they tried the same "run them out" philosophy last year with JDD and Dom Smith basically through July. How did that work out? JDD started hitting the second he was gone but not a minute before.

in a million ways people know when their role in an organization is hanging by a thread. when there is no way they are getting another contract there and at risk for being replaced any day by someone else. some people are unaffected by that but it would seem this mets regime continues to be unable to judge that.

And to not play Vientos in hitter's parks like Wrigley Field or Coors is mind boggling.

The only possible reason might be -- they're trying to preserve Mark's trade value, to get something for him in a deadline deal.

But this 'braintrust' is not that smart.

That would be odd, unless they're playing chess and we're playing checkers (lol).
not playing prospects does nothing to preserve trade value
Eric on Li : 5/27/2023 10:44 am : link
there is only 1 rationale for playing the guys they are playing, and that is that they think they are good and can help them win.

they havent been good and they havent helped them win so to date they are wrong.

they can either continue being wrong or try something so obvious it helped them win 2 games last week. this shouldnt be a hard decision.
I don't believe that Buck
larryflower37 : 5/27/2023 10:47 am : link
"Is trying to figure out who to keep that's why they are playing" nonsense Pham and fatboy are the same players they have always been.
Both need to go.
Tough predicament
Drewcon40 : 5/27/2023 10:56 am : link
The Mets - while are still performing under expectations are still very much alive and have a chance to make this a successful season. I hope Buck's stubbornness or Eppler's shortcomings do not prevent this team from qualifying for the playoffs and beyond.

I am also curious if there is a disagreement between Buck and Billy or are they both responsible for curious decisions like too many at-bats for Vogelbach and Pham.
The answer is obvious
Vanzetti : 5/27/2023 11:03 am : link
Eppler made these terrible moves and Buck obviously supported them and now they are trying to prove themselves right but unfortunately all they are doing is proving themselves more and more wrong.

Vientos could take a while to get up to speed, it is essential he play regularly so he learns to handle ML pitching.

Eppler and Buck can't leave soon enough.

THIS. They're in saving face mode now. They won't admit they're wrong and are doubling down on these failed experiments. They can't be trusted going forward and need to be gone.
