The inspiration for this came from watching a team of veterans playing wheelchair basketball on TV. Maybe it's more appropriate for Veteran's day, but on a slow BBI weekend, in the spirit of our American heroes, like Pat Toomey, I'm posting it today. Sorry, it's Country, written for the style of Montgomery-Gentry. Only the lyrics are me. Scroll to song #46
THAT'S NOT ME
(verse)
He said:
I ran a hundred meters once in nine point nine
And no one had a finishing kick close to mine
When the towers fell I couldn't help the tears
I signed up as a Ranger during Junior year
We were giving candy to some kids
Same way that we always did
When a fireball flew at us from a car
And I may have lost my legs
But I've still got my heart
(chorus)
And I am still a sprinter in my dreams
And I know that I'm stronger than
Whatever this life brings
I know I can be anything I want to be
So don't be fooled by half a man that you can see.......
Cause that's not me.
(verse)
I know that God throws tests at us that seem unfair
I see how people look when I am in this chair
The only limits that I've got are self-imposed
And there's a fire that burns in me that folks don't know
And I can laugh and I can joke
I can cry and not lose hope
And I can love as much as anyone
And make these damn wheels turn
Fast as I used to run
(repeat chorus)
(bridge)
No, I'm not Jesus in disguise to trick you
I don't decide if he'll pass by or pick you
And I don't need your sympathy or pity
Just be yourself when you're with me.

May they all rest in peace with the thanks of a grateful nation
If not, my apologies to whoever Pat Toomey is.
If not, my apologies to whoever Pat Toomey is.
Yes, I certainly meant Tillman. Pat Toomey was a U.S. Senator from PA

I might get run out of AZ for screwing up Tillman's name
A small price to pay, thanks
Thanks, bro :)
