I had a Middle Eastern version of a burger last night, called a chapli. But my go to is a bacon-cheeseburger, with American cheese, ketchup/mayo, sauteed onions. Burger either sous vide/seared or double smashburger. How to you like yours?
a Caprese Salad burger. Topped the burger with a nice slice of Mozz, tomato, and basil leaf, sea salt, balsamic and extra virgin olive oil. Had it without a bun, but that's personal choice.
Also had with a bottle of Barbera. Was fantastic!!
I cook my burger on the grill and top with lettuce tomato onion - no bottled condiments. I've tried some other methods but I always end up back home.
Today though I'm eating pulled pork sandwiches at my son's house. Vinegar based BBQ sauce. I'm bringing coleslaw.
As they say, it takes a simple man, to sing a simple song. I'm a fan of Carolina vinegar based bbq sauce. Are you going to do a vinegar based slaw also?
burgers. I really dislike mayo, ketchup, mustard and pickles. Cheese and/or raw onion are common for me.
I had a half pound Jersey Burger (no egg) at a local tavern yesterday that was good.

I freeze my ground beef in packages of 1 pound, so I usually make half pound burgers, or if smashing, I stack 2 quarters
but I like mine with Fry Sauce instead of ketchup, and mayo.
Fry sauce is just mayo and ketchup, plus assorted additions, as you know. What do you add to yours?
I all seriousness there are so many topping combinations that I like, as I'm sure is the case with a lot of people. My favorite is a grilled burger (charcoal) with ketchup, mustard, pickle, and raw sweet onion, but bacon, American cheese, and fried onion is my favorite if cooked on a griddle, smashed or not.
Mix in some salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Shape the patties. Weber kettle grill. About 5 minutes each side. Bun with ketchup and a pickle.
I'll do Burger King if the mood strikes when I'm going errands.
Tastiest burgers for me are mix of prime, chuck, and brisket, but that's work. Raw onions for sure, L&T&Swiss, BBQ sauce or ketchup and mayo. Doing our own, I'm snake bit bec the Ms CHP doesn't 'like' hers rare, supposedly, but I err on not underdoing hers, but somehow leave mine on too long in sympathy and coming off the grill my less done burgers come out more done than hers, and she gobbles it up.
Important for me: the bun has to be toasted golden brown, the swiss stuck to it; cold bun is such a turn-off, ruins the whole. And then, in my BK cheap roots, I like to dip pickles on the side in ketchup, as a 'condiment', lol
I used to use Thomas's King Size English Muffins instead of buns - give them a try. I also liked them "crunchified" (hat tip, Bobby Flay), with potato chips on top of the burger. Give that a try, too.
I prefer big, fat, juicy burgers, medium-rare, instead of smashburgers. Crumbled blue cheese on top. Maybe some Primal Kitchen steak sauce (a sugar-free A1 variant).

I'll be eating mine on low carb bread for now. Have done both toasted Thomas' and ciabatta rolls at times-both hold up to moisture better than most buns.
Probably going back over 10 years I've seen Flay add the potato chips, and I've never once remembered to. Maybe next time :)

I think there's a Cuban burger with potato sticks on top. For me, it was Ruffles Sour Cream & Onion. Ohhh, the things I did to my body, lol.

Potato sticks sound more dangerous than chips- you could probably drive one thru your palate if you're not careful
Any burger can be good depending on the mood. I will never turn down a White Castle, In & Out, Five Guy’s, Mc D’s only in emergency. For me the messier the burger the better it is. I am a ketchup, mustard, mayo, onion, and pickle guy. The more mess droppings are just more dipping sauce.
My FIL, RIP made burgers for my wife’s side of the family for years. And I still make his on request from the family I guess as a tribute of some sorts.
Stupid simple half pack of Lipton onion soup mix per pound, A-1 steak sauce to rehydrate the mix, I started adding some 57 sauce as well but not necessary. 80/20 ground chuck or whatever you like. Mix well without breaking down the fat of the meat. And refrigerate for an hour or two. Patty and cook how you like I must admit they are damn good.

As I remember it, someone once said that if you're adding more than salt and pepper, you're making meatloaf :)
I remember hearing story about a small-town burger joint....
That was hugely popular with the locals. Can't recall if the cook/owner was a man or a woman, but he/she was always being asked why the burgers were so good. "My secret recipe" was the only answer ever given, and always with a smile.
After the owner died, the joint was taken over by a relative - children, grandchildren, I don't recall that, either. But along with the property, they got the "secret recipe," too. Turns out it was just Lipton's Onion Soup mix added to ground chuck.

I wonder how onion dip with ground beef in it would taste on potato chips? Sounds like a plan
Mixed with a bit of brisket. Cheddar cheese, cooked medium with mayo, mustard, pickle slices, a slice of tomato and raw onion. I’ll take two, thank you.
I don’t like the burger too think either.
There's a local food truck that I just demolished their burger of the month. Goat cheese, jalapeno Cole slaw and bacon and peach chutney. Paired with a single Belgian blonde. Absolutely delicious.
Other days nothing can beat a plain burger with melted swiss or cheddar. Though most cheeses outside of American can do.
RE: I get in different moods and depends where I go
Last night I had a show to play over in the Berkshires in MA. Grand opening of a new brewery that's also a restaurant. Figured I'd have a bite before the gig - got there, and an hour wait (good for them). Asked what else I could do in the next 45 minutes and got directed to a Burger King down the road. Know what? That Whopper with cheese was pretty darn good. A bunch of fresh ingredients on top of it. Good fries too.
Meanwhile back at the ranch - we have so few meat-eaters around here. Made turkey burgers and "Beyond" burgers tonight. LOL, I know, a disgrace to BBI - but you got to roll with the flow when it comes to the kids and grandkids.

There are no foods that are a disgrace to eat, especially when you're doing it for family or friends

Today though I'm eating pulled pork sandwiches at my son's house. Vinegar based BBQ sauce. I'm bringing coleslaw.
Other times sautéed mushrooms with Swiss.
Not too many hamburgers I don't like!
Also had with a bottle of Barbera. Was fantastic!!
Meanwhile, I cook 1 pound of bacon until almost crisp and then dice it.
I mix the bacon with the chuck steak cubes and run it all through my grinder. That bacon because it was pre-cooked has that saltiness.
With this burger, I cook it on a very hot grill so the bacon that is on the exterior of the burger gets a char.
Very simple when it comes to condiments. Cheese, ketchup, onion.
Tonight I’m going with simple charcoal grilled 80-20 burgers with tomato/onion/pickles/ketchup. And good old processed Kraft American “cheese”.

I used to do raw onion often. Mrs. in UT likes hers sauteed, so I usually just share what I make for her. But I've gotta do raw again
