I watched the shootout scene a few times just so I could track where Sally was. In the all wide shots before the shootout she wasn't where she was supposed to be.
Wanted. Stephen Root was incredible. It got a little dark but it was always a good watch. Watched the last Mrs Maisel this week and the last Ted Lasso is coming this week. Lots of great ones ending. Will need to add something new to the queue.
i found the ending fine but the show was tedious to the end
i get the dark turn and i think hader was incredibly good but it just became the least fun show to watch in the history of shows. the first 2 seasons were a lot better than the last 2 and i dont think there was really any bigger point made beyond lets see how dark we can go and keep people watching.
But hilarious. The episode where he tried to kill the karate guy and then got stalked by the daughter was an all timer
agreed, one of the funniest eps of any show in the last several years. there were also occasional scenes like the one where fuches tries to hire that other hitman who hilariously botches the job and leads the police to fuches. the entire storyline with barry training the bolivians in s2 was probably the high point.
i cant remember anything that was actually funny from s3/4.

I’m so glad someone feels the same way I do.

i kept holding out hope there'd be a classic episode or run of a few that would make it worth it but no dice.
if you shift away from comedy that's fine, but then the story has to be better than fuches morphing into a lawless "raven" that's unkillable, and noho hank becoming a mogul after shifting alignments with like 4-5 different crime syndicates, etc. the end was actually pretty good with the movie version of reality but the path to getting there was just so meh.
was a character milked a little too dry. Good for a while, but that chewing gum lost its flavor a long time ago.
Barry's take on religion was about the only addition to the show this season. Otherwise, it was one season too many.
Sad to see a good show limp to such a poor end.
I feel the same way about Barry that I did about Lost. I loved it at first. It was fantastic, then as time went on i felt like I was stuck in an abusive marriage and i couldnt get out....
it had a breaking bad feel to it. Rooting for the bad guy. But I couldn't help feeling bad for Harry Winkler's character in the end, and not caring at all for Barry.
Mr. Cousineau had his flaws, but I thought they did him dirty by blaming him for the murders and letting Barry off scott free.
I always feel shows jump the shark when they fast forward in time to introduce another plot element. It was dumb and felt disjointed. Why did Sally go with him? Because she felt safe? such an odd place to go. It would have been better, to just make Sally pregnant then it makes more sense why she leaves with him.
I would've liked to see Sally setup Barry and get him caught, instead of trying to convince him to turn himself in. She was always a victim and I feel like she didn't really get a satisfying and redeeming end. She's forever damaged and has shut herself off from the opposite sex.
Why did Barry deserve to have a happy ending? (albeit honored in death) Fuches gets away without a scratch?
I understand the need to do something new and different with the ending, but this was a head scratcher for sure.
The funniest part of the season was Noho and Cristobal at Dave and Busters walking in a circle talking to the criminals.. and Noho hank runs back around the opposite direction to start again. Felt like season 1 right there. Sadly that was the last time I laughed out loud for the rest of the season.
I thought the deeper character studies of all of the characters, and Fuches' final monologue about how people have to hit rock bottom before they accept who they are, their dilemma, and can really change is really the show's thesis.
I loved the finale, though the final season/s certainly lit up different receptors. The Gene storyline became a little mushy and convoluted.

As to nothing being funny this season - the criminals meeting at Dave & Busters was humorous
i thought the last 2 seasons sucked.

after must-see viewing the first couple seasons the last two seasons I sort of hate-watched.
glad it's over. glad I made it through, lol.

The acting was really wonderful throughout.
