So when Jones was asked by new center John Michael Schmitz (this year’s second-round pick out of the University of Minnesota) whether he was OK with the “dead snap” technique that Schmitz used in college, there wasn’t much to consider. “As long as it gets back to me,” Jones told ESPN. |
To clarify, I don't think it is a big deal at all, and neither does DJ, and he's the only person that matters in this discussion.
You'd likely prefer Hassenauer and Bredeson to snap the same way for the sake of consistency. They currently don't.
Lol, so true, and unfortunately becoming a norm on sport’s reporting

Unless the OC-QB exchange starts failing regularly, this thing is getting WAY too much press.

We are in the information overload era. If Jones were to nick himself shaving we'd be getting medical updates daily.

That was my thought also. JMS gets hurt, now the snap totally changes. Maybe not a big deal, but seems like something to keep in mind.
DJ stated the only part that matters. Get it to him.

One of the pros that I've seen people citing for using the dead snap is that's it's easier for the snapper, so makes it easier to swap guys in if necessary. Presumably if the Giants decide to go with it, our backup centers will spend plenty of time on it and have no problem doing it effectively.
WTF, you are worried about something that happened 38 years ago with two different players? The beat Lamar because of a blown snap last year. Bad snaps happen all the time, not matter the style.
It will take maybe a few snaps to get used to it. Seems to me it would be easier to catch. The only concern should be if it gets to Jones as fast as the regular way and that is all that matters.

when Oates and Simms botched the snap to blow the game. Don't be surprised if there are issues early, it's only natural. Ultimately they will work it out, but the media and internet bullshit today will be unceasing if it does occur.

you been taking writing tips from PaulN LOL? I'm not worrying, merely pointing out that it wouldn't be unusual for issues to occur with a new C/QB combo, and that in today's media world it would overblown.
