NFT: Youtube TV...Are there any hidden fees?

superspynyg : 5/30/2023 3:29 pm
So I have DTV and in equipment and fees I am paying and extra $73.98. Add this to the $114.00 I pay for the Choice tv package the total comes to 188.97. I also pay for HBOMAX (Now Max) which is $14.99 a month (which my wife refuses to give up).

I have been looking at YoutubeTV which is 72.99 a month after the first 3 months (64.99 for first 3). I am planning to get the Sunday ticket. I could get both TV and package for $249 v(football package) plus the 72.99 for the tv.

Are there any fees I dont know about? What is your opinion on YOutubeTV?

Thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks
Hidden fees? Not exactly.

But there are lots of add-on packages and such. 4K streaming is an add-on. It can add up fast. I really like it but it ain't a bargain. The unlimited cloud DVR is a great feature IMO, though the content expires after 9 months.
No additional fees that Im aware of

It’s $72.99 a month. I’ve had it for the last 2 or 3 years and it’s been good. The only downside is that I don’t have the YES Network or MSG for local sports, but if that’s not a deal breaker it’s a great value.
No “hidden fees” but there are various packages

You can add.

Having tried several TV streaming services I can say I think YouTubeTV is easily the best.
Zero hidden fees

added packages are just that, completely transparent extras that you control
And it’s great, by far the best UI
UConn4523 : 5/30/2023 3:52 pm : link
and you can record any and everything accessing it from anywhere. The only downsides for me are what someone posted above, no YES Network but you can now add that separately so it’s just a cost that exists elsewhere.
They just upped the price again

No MLBN. If you accidentally hit the remote when watching g a show plan on 3 minutes to get back to what you were watching

It definitely doesn’t take 3 minutes. Are you running it on windows 95?
As noted above, no “hidden” fees, but upcharges

for add-ons. I’ve been using it for 4-5 years now, and I’m real happy with it. The DVR functionality alone makes it worthwhile. You can add a show to your library, and immediately go back and watch past episodes.
Don't hesitate, go for it.

Yes you have to pay extra for 4k resolution, which i think is bullshit, but i think it's an extra $5 a month. You're still saving a ton of money compared to paying for cable and set top boxes and you get almost all of the same channels.

The one thing I would advise is to make sure you have a good streaming device and a strong internet connection. You can probably get by with a smart tv, but if that's glitchy I'd recommend investing in a Roku or Apple TV (I've had issues with YouTube TV on the Fire Cube).

You can subscribe to HBO Max separately for $15.99 (it went up in price recently) and watch it through the app the same streaming device.
As A YouTubeTV Neophyte …

1) I also have DirecTV and I’m looking at dropping it since originally I dropped cable for content and switched solely for Sunday Ticket access.
2) I get my Internet from the local cable company (I don’t get any channels etc from them, just Internet access)
3) I use an Apple TV box to access / organize my steaming services, including “basic YouTube” (I pay for no commercials)
4) I get my local channels from DirecTV
5) My wife is not tech savvy and in spite of having an Apple TV box on “her TV”, she almost never watches anything that is streamed.

If I sign up for YouTubeTV and drop DirecTV, will I have to get local channels from either my cable provider or get an antenna?

Thanks in advance.
Plug your zip into YouTube

and it’ll tell you the local channels you get
I've had the service for about 2 months.

I don't like the interface, at all. No MLB, no NHL, and likenitbwas said, if you accidentally hitbthe remote or a wrong button (there is no dedicated remote) it takes a while to get back to where you were. I have yet to decide whether I'm keeping it or not. It doesn't suck, but it could be improved.
I had DirectTv

Then Fubo. Switched to YouTube TV and really happy with it.
I recently dropped DTV

And went to YouTubeTV. Have not regretted that decision yet!

No hidden fees

YoutubeTV will give you your local channels. I get them all through YTTV
After 25 + years with DTV I switched to YouTube. However, if you

don’t want to switch, you can still buy NFL Sunday ticket through DTV. You will pay full price as they probably pay full price from YouTube. They offered it to me when I cancelled. No freebies this time :).

We switched to YTTV, and love it. I wish YES was on it for ease of use, but the YES app works good.

Here’s a tip though: make sure you have a fast smart tv interface. We have a new Apple TV box and it makes all the difference. Fast, you can switch between apps as fast as you switch channels on cable, it runs the other apps in the background so you can pick up on YES or YTTV or other apps without relaunching the app. We have a FireTV stick and it works, but switching between apps is slow. The Apple TV makes all the difference.
YTTV is great

Record everything start to watch part way through and skip all commercials. Once you get used to it you’ll never go back.
Nope ...
Beer Man : 5/31/2023 9:57 am : link
You have to purchase your own streaming devise(s) so there is no equipment to rent. I have a Roku box setup with all of my TVs (I think they allow up to 5 devises on the account)
Almost 2 years with Youtube TV
X : 5/31/2023 10:05 am : link
and I love it. It records everything I want. Weather is not a factor like with satellite.

It sucks they dropped a few sports stations so I added a few that you pay extra for but still worth it IMO.
