-The bottom third of the order today is not so good, to say the least: Vogelbach, Canha, and Nido.
-The 4-man bench today will consist of Alvarez, Vientos, Escobar, & Pham (excellent).

his defense is not just playable it's plus. currently 70th percentile outs above average and -1 drs (which is currently middle of the pack).

in alvarez' case he wasn't playing all 3 and i think the decision to hold him for the walker game is a good one with how walker is prone to the long ball.

vientos should be playing more than he is but hopefully that's on the way.

Baty's defense has been fine. He does not look smooth and I think that makes some one-time observers think he is shaky in the field. But if you watch him day in and day, he gets the job done.

Alvarez' defense has also been fine.

Vientos benched again for Vogel. Alvarez dropped back to the 9 spot. I really don't understand why they've handled Vientos this way as it makes no sense for such a powerless lineup.

Eppler traded for Vogey. Gave up Holderman and backend of Mets bullpen is atrocious. Buck obviously endorsed the trade.

So Vogey is going to get every chance to validate Eppler and Buck.

It's that simple: a GM and Manager trying to preserve their reputations.
