Is the complete opposite of the stereotypical me-first, diva WR. Seems like a genuinely good guy and easy to root for.
That said, I wonder if he would still be on the roster if Minnesota had come back and won the WC game after he dropped what would have been the game-clinching first down

That would have been a reactionary stupid move to cut a guy because of one play. If you want to cut him because of the performance during the rest of the season, fine. But does a QB get dumped after throwing dumb interceptions....does a RB get cut when he fumbles going in to the end zone...WR's get cut when they stupidly spike the damn ball at the 1 yard line before they get in the end zone? Waive the LT when he gives up a sack that causes one of those QB fumbles? Its football. Mistakes are going to be made by everyone at some point.....regular season, playoffs, whatever. Its a game.
Makes me question why he was not starting from the beginning and why he was almost cut. I always assumed he had a hard time picking up the offense (either because of work ethic or smarts), but he comes across as a guy who is both smart and hard working. He was the best receiver on the team at the beginning of the season, and yet we almost cut him. It really is a mystery to me.

Just my take but maybe the coaching staff wanted to kick him in the pants to get him going. Doesn’t seem like the type of guy who would need that but maybe it was their way of trying to get the best out of him.
Parcells used to say some guys need a kick in the pants and others a pat on the back.Maybe Dabs/Kafka felt a demotion would in the end get him to raise his game?
Maybe his rep for drops hurt him. Remember they didn't pick up
Pat does a good job. I hate his writing and tweeting - but these are good. Thoughtful questions and not a jerk like he can be at the pressers. Slayton is impressive. He will be great on TV some day.

Marshal Tito lives!
Get Vlade Divac or Toni Kukoc on the phone with Darius & give him some pointers.
