Dan and Nick dive into a breakdown of the Giants’ roster by ranking the position groups from 1-14 and breaking them down in reverse order. Nick and Dan have a different set of rankings so they discuss the differences in where they view the position groups, how each position ranks relative to the NFL and a lot more. |
Defensive Line is the one obvious strength - ironic, since it was a one-man show last year.
I personally love our TEs. Obviously, a lot could go wrong there.
At safety, I like the depth. I'm less enamored with McKinney as the top dog than some observers.
CB could emerge as a strength; that's mostly projection though, for Banks, Robinson, Flott, and Hawkins.
I think the WRs will be fun to watch. After David Sills and Kenny Golladay, our standards are pretty low.
Okereke is a huge upgrade. Even with him, the LBs look pretty bad until they prove otherwise.
OL and EDGE? Who knows? We're counting on a lot of players to take big jumps.
Speaking of big jumps, QB is OK with Jones at the level he played in 2022, and could be much better than OK if things fall into place.
They are the two areas where they have the most athleticism and untapped potential.
Arrow pointing up is definitely at QB, WR, TE, C, ILB and CB.
This show was more 50/50 because Scheier had a lot relevant comments.

Schneier wasn’t impressed with SB from the middle of the season on. Hello! That coincided with SB’s shoulder injury which obviously impacted his productivity. Opinions on SB are fine, but you alao needto put in some kind of injury disclaimer to be fair
Barkley? Until he proves otherwise, a banged-up RB is who he is (at least half the time), and the position he plays. That's not his fault; it's just been reality from 2019 on.
But position and playing style certainly up the odds of getting hurt.
I think Barkley falls in that group. The odds of him getting through 17 games and performing at a high level seem low.

He said that SB was really playing well until the middle of the season which happened to coincide with his shoulder injury. It’s only fair that you point out that this was a FACTOR as the season moved on, because it was. How much probably can’t be quantified.
The disclaimer was pointed towards his assertion about playing well until the middle of the season. It would have been prudent to at least point this out as a reason or possible reason..
Barkley is not a very efficient pass weapon, so I hope he doesn't exceed the ~75 targets he had last year.
The best outcome in my view is Barkley as the 1A running back in a committee, and he gets 300-325 touches on the year. And when the weather turns and/if the Giants make the playoffs he's more fresh.
Barkley should angle for this too financially. The best outcome for him is to extend his productive years, even at a slightly lower AAV.
Hyatt, Campbell and Robinson can bring that element.

Is an 80% contribution from Falato and 20% contribution by Schneier with Schneier trying to contribute something to the solid discussion from Nick.

You can make injury excuses, but that is an issue with Barkley. There has been an injury every season but his rookie year.
- will ultimately be
- feels like projection
- could emerge
But, this season, there should be greater optimism given the growth we saw in 2022 and the faith that most have for how the rookie coaching staff performed.
On D we imporoved the DL, same pass rushers. Improved the ILBs by a lot. Improved the CB position even if you dont include Banks. S position may be a bit of a downgrade with the loss of Love, while not a great player he player a lot of important roles.

He’s also one of the best rbs, banged up or not.
He was fine down the stretch last year even if he wasn’t as dominant as earlier on.
