The Phoenix Suns are hiring Jazz associate GM David Fizdale as an assistant coach, sources tell ESPN. Suns made a significant financial play for Fizdale and drew upon his history with new coach Frank Vogel and GM James Jones. Fizdale is a former HC with Knicks and Grizzlies.
But that contract is gonna be an albatross with this CBA. It really reduces his value. Without the contract, sure KAT is better and NBA folks wouldnt trade him for Randle. But Randle will soon be making 24 million less than KAT. The view of their value will change accordingly. In a few years he'll make as much as Randle and Brunson will combined. Thats a bad contract. Same reason we should stay away from Lavine.
KAT is paid like he's MVP caliber player and hes really not.
Randle has a player option after the 24-25 season. Towns contract extension kicks in that year, and he will cost significantly more than Randle that season, but after that, if Randle keeps up this same level of play, he is going to be expecting to be paid close to the same amount Towns is getting.
Point being, the salary difference for those two guys for the duration of that towns contract may not be as big as it currently looks.

Ok. So Randle opts out and the Knicks can choose to pay him or not. I dont think his market value will be 54 Million dollars. Towns has an opt out in the last year of his deal but he's 50-54-58-62. Only the 62 is an option year. So he's gonna be a huge percentage of the salary cap and really constrict what you can add around him. I really doubt that Randle finds a market near that stratosphere.
What would Minny realistically want in a KAT for Randle trade?
I know I’m in the minority and the contract is scary but I think KAT could be a buy low candidate. When he had it going he was one of the more talented offensive big man I’ve seen in a while.
If the ask was reasonable built around Randle, I’m thinking about it. I feel like a team built around him and Brunson has a shot to win it all.
future salaries is always tough because some of it is timing for the players. I mean Lillard makes "only" 44 vs. LaVine at 43. Porter Jr., Tobias Harris makes 36 vs. Anthony Davis at 38.
At this point I believe anything ajr says about the Knicks.
see way too many Knicks fans on twitter hoping for Jaden McDaniels, not sure where that "rumor" came from but I'd be stunned if the Wolves moved him for anything resembling a price the Knicks should consider. He's 22, trending upwards and the Wolves reportedly preferred giving up 2 1sts vs. including McDaniels in the Gobert deal. Don't see why suddenly they would decide he's a player they move for "less".

Zero shot Wolves trade McDaniels especially now that Edwards left Klutch and joined him at WME.

Knicks interest in Lavine is real.
I know im in the minority but Lavine is a great fit
but after seeing that brick fest in the postseason, I’ve come around - assuming it’s a reasonable trade package going to CHI (RJ and a couple of firsts). He played 77 games last year too - same as Ironman Julius.
I'm fine with Lavine too. He's a legit shot maker and would better fit around what they have than RJ. The knee down the road definitely worries you though but you get it checked out beforehand and hope for the best. KP interests me too. I think the Knicks go any number of ways this off season ranging from not doing too much to a big move depending on what comes available. I think they have positioned themselves to be patient, but pivot at a moment's notice. They are not desperate at all.
Toppin lands with Indiana. They were in on him last season.
""Indiana, with the seventh choice plus picks Nos. 26 and 29, was quite active searching for answers at starting power forward before February’s trade deadline, sources said, and has made no secret about continuing those efforts this summer.""

This is already in talks with the Knicks eyeing Klintman, Clowney, Whithead and Strawther. I don’t see the Knicks getting a first just for Obi though. Not sure what else they’d have to send
is a very high risk/big reward type. I can't help but be biased by the Knox experiment. Not saying I wouldn't want to be the team to take the shot but it's a concern.
Mentions Miami or BK as his ideal destinations if traded
One bonus Miami is really gonna get out of this playoff run is that they are now in position to be a player for a star this off season. Suddenly guys like Gabe Vincent, Strus, and Caleb Martin are a hell of a lot more attractive as trade pieces. Heck even With his horrific contract Duncan Robinson has resuscitated his value a bit. The Hero injury could end up really helping them in the long run.

Strus and Vincent are both UFA's, Martin has a player option and presumably will be opting out.

the problem for the heat is most of their players are free agents coming up and they owe 25 pick to OKC which stops them from trading 24 and 26, the 26th pick is also a contigency in case the 25th pick doesnt transfer, so that also takes away the 27th pick
Even if they kept Bridges in that trade, that team wouldn't be much better than Portland.
He flat out mentioned Miami/Brooklyn as his 2 ideal landing spots, Portland will appease him as teams do with long-time franchise players in the NBA. Whether they will be much better than Portland or not is really besides the point. It's a matter of where he wants to be and which of those teams have assets. I'd say #1 BK #2 Boston #3 Miami (not because they have any real assets but because Riley always seems to figure these things out). "Riley is very reluctant to include Jovic in any Lillard deal..." lol

Oh, I'm not doubting what you said or whatever. I'm just saying it's a weird pull for a guy who's been reluctant to ask for a trade, said all that stuff about loyalty etc etc. And then he wants to get traded to a team who has a lateral amount of talent as the place he's always insisted he didn't want to leave? Just seems weird to me.

I want Lavine too. I have always loved big shooting guards like that. We really need that kind of shooter here, aware he comes with risk.

To me this is big news, not really his choices but more that Lilliard is actually mentioning and open to a trade. I would think this means he will in fact be traded.

It's really the smartest thing for Portland to do. If they were one player away, leveraging that #3 pick to get Lillard over the hump would be the way to go, but that team isn't really close. Probably needs a gut job.
like Beal might be shopped but also... return of KP?
"Many rival executives The Athletic has polled informally over the last two weeks expect Winger to undertake a full rebuild — if not this offseason, then within the next year. "
"New York: I don’t know why the Knicks would give up a first-round pick for Josh Hart, who has the yips from the perimeter and may be a free agent after the season if he opts out of his $12.9 million deal. The Knicks made themselves marginally better this season, but their first-round pick was likely to be more helpful than this on draft night, either to acquire a young player or to use in a trade.
Of course, the draft pick also would have helped by adding another inexpensive salary instead of whatever Hart will make; the Knicks are pushing the luxury tax next year, and that could constrain other options (such as their midlevel and biannual exceptions)."
And now-
6. Josh Hart, SG, 28, New York (player option): $28,607,658
Hart was outstanding after his trade to New York and had a really good stretch in the second half of 2021-22 in the brief window between his trade to Portland and the Blazers pivoting to abject tanking.
Nonetheless, even the most homerific Knicks fan would probably admit that $28.6 million feels like a lofty valuation for Hart. His career shooting (35.0 percent from 3 on low volume), age (28) and size (6-foot-5 if you pull on his toes) all weigh against paying him as a top-dozen shooting guard like this valuation implies.
That said, New York won big by bringing him in from Portland for the cost of a late first. Hart surely will opt out of his below-market contract, but one presumes he’ll be back in New York on a multi-year deal that pays him like a plus wing starter (in the $20 million range) for the next three or four years.
According to Heavy.com’s Sean Deveney, an Eastern Conference executive believes that the team wants to free up its payroll and see if there is a way to add Lillard to the roster.
“There is a lot that can happen there,” the executive said. “The Suns need depth all over that roster. They want to free up their payroll. They want to see if there is a way to bring in Dame. They want to see what they can do with a Deandre Ayton deal. There is a lot on the table. And the [Los Angeles] Lakers need to know where they are going with [D’Angelo] Russell. They’re not just letting him walk. They traded a pick for him. And who knows if they could get Chris to sign a vet minimum deal or what?”
If I'm Portland, I'm moving Dame & going all in on a rebuild. What's the end game retooling the roster around a soon to be 33 YOA Dame? A 6th seed or so in the West?
@moriahmillsss
Your bathroom was filled with soda bottles and cans no wonder you fat asf and not in shape fuck you @Zionwilliamson I’m tired of being nice you hurt me and humiliated me !!!
I don't know...of course you don't want to force a bad move
If you're the Knicks. However unlike seemingly the past few decades there is no elite team or teams who are the odds on favorite to win it all. So with the one star in Brunson in place, you feel like temptation is there to really go for it because it's not as hard to get into the mix of teams that can win it all.

2024/25 $50,050,000
2025/26 $54,054,000

2027/28 $62,062,000 (Player Option)

Gotta figure they’ll use the MLE too - Villanova Wildcat Donte DiVincenzo would figure to be in play, but that’s a guess on my part.

CJ McCollum expects Damian Lillard to exit Portland
“If I was a betting man, I would say this is the last that we've seen of him [in Portland].”👀
