The Optimistic Case - Why a SB run could happen in 2023

A lot of things have to go right to look at the Giants as a Super Bowl team.

1). OL - Evan Neal becomes a top 10 right tackle. JMS is a top 15 center. If this happens it will be our first decent offensive line since 2008 or 2009.
2). QB - DJ is essentially on a 2 yr/$80MM show me contract. If he shows us, we could see a Jalen Hurts type of year. First time he gets 2nd year in a competent system. First time he has a competent OL. His worst receiving option on opening day could be better than his best option (not counting SB) on opening day last year.
3). Defense - Wink now has enough pieces to run his defense. Banks and Flott both play well. Beavers steps up. Okereke is what we hope. Pressure breaks pipes and Wink can now bring it!
4). And the MVP of the 2023 season. Predicted here first. The new field. For the first time in what seems forever we have better injury luck than the average NFL franchise, while Philly suddenly seems to be playing in the Old Vet.

I know it is unlikely, but I for one go into this season hoping for a Super Bowl run.

Right! Exactly! This is the year they beat the Eagles...

They can't go 1-4-1 in NFC East this year......

I like our match up vs the Cowboys more....but

The chasm between the Eagles and Giants have gotten closer....rather get them early.....and we must remain healthy

are big turn overs in rosters every year and an injury or tw can change a teams abilities. If the Giants stay healthy, get a break or two why can't they make a run? I have been a Giants fan since 1955 and have always believed the Giants can win any game they play, the game has changed a lot since those days and I think the Giants have become a football team for today, so why not!

Agreed. We must Must MUST do better against Dallas and Philly. I think health is the deciding factor on how this year turns out actually. If we stay healthy (FOR FREAKING ONCE lol)

Outside of jones who is obvious, Neal is a massive part of this season. He looked like a fucking turnstile often last year. He needs to be better or jones will be running for his life and teams will bring heat off right side every play

Our interior line must improve by leaps and bounds too. Waller, Jones, Barkley, Thomas must stay healthy all year and perform to their capabilities as well.

It's been the Giants Achilles Heel since 2007 - both Super Bowl runs featured banged up seasons, barely making the playoffs and getting healthy as the playoffs hit.

But by and large, for the last decade the team has been arguably the leagues most injured.

Keep em upright and yes, this team can absolutely make a run.

In this conversation, if he steps up and becomes a game wrecker as I think he will the Def is going to look much different as well as our chances to make it to the SB

with my reasonable expectations. It is reasonable to expect that at least one or more of the other 31 teams is better than we are.

I hope and expect the Giants to be improved and to play well this year, but I won't be disappointed if they don't get into the Super Bowl.

In 2007 there were MANY teams better then us....

By the end of that season and into the next, there were no teams better than the Giants until Plaxico shot himself
