Runner up Super Bowl MVPs for Giants?

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 6/4/2023 7:01 pm
Spurred on by the thread the other day on '86 Giants, I rewatched Broncos-Giants Super Bowl XXI. And as I remember watching previously, Banks was a fucking beast. If not Simms-and Phil obviously deserved it-Carl gets SB MVP.

It got me thinking on our other Super Bowl wins who was runner up MVP...

XXV: Gotta go Hoss.
XLII: Tuck.
XLVI: Tuck, again.

What say you?
Tuck was such a monster

In those 2 games.
42 - Plax/Tyree

46 - Manningham/Nicks
Actually Tyree over

Plax 100%….. its so hard to single out the defensive guys on 42… 46 is much easier to say Tuck
Agree on XX

XXV: I would go with Ingram, 74 yds and that ridiculous 3rd down conversion to keep the opening drive of the 3q alive

XLII: The correct answer would probably be Eli since Tuck should have been the actual MVP but otherwise no issues there although Tyree should be an honorable mention.

XLVI: Manningham. IDC if he did nothing else that catch was enough.

did one hell of a job in Super Bowl XLVI placing his punts deep into Patriot territory. I always thought he should have had some consideration.
For SB XVII

I have long felt that the Defensive Line should have been the MVP.
Oops

make that XLII
Fun fact
BlackLight : 6/4/2023 9:48 pm : link
Phil McConkey was originally going to be the XXI MVP, but the Disney execs saw him carrying a gun around the field after the game and decided to give it to Simms instead.
I know the official voting for XXI & XXV
truebluelarry : 6/5/2023 4:39 am : link
Simms was unanimous, sweeping all 10 votes.

Anderson took 7 of the 10 votes for his MVP. Hostetler, Meggett and Thurman Thomas of Buffalo received 1 each.
Just want to add this.

Not saying he was runner-up in XLVI, but Weatherford was HUGE.
XLII--have to give Tyree consideration
jeffusedtobeonwebtv : 6/5/2023 6:44 am : link
In addition to "the catch", he also had a receiving touchdown.

Not so much a fun fact as an unfunny joke.

As great as Simms was in XXI, the offensive line deserves a nod. By the end of the third quarter, Denver was completely beaten. Credit to George Martin too, for the biggest defensive play.

Which defensive play? Blanking. Regular season George Martin or SB?
Sheesh, nevermind.

It came back to me. The safety on Elway

And that goal line stand featuring our 3 different LBs was huge at the time
Two very key players

for 2011 for me were Boothe and Blackburn. One came off the bench and the other a couch and delivered.

That holding call on Booth on Wilfork(who admitted to taking a dive) stopped a potential scoring drive that could have resulted in a rather convincing win, albeit you never know about a Brady driven team..Iirc, that 9-0 lead could have easily been 16-0, instead of being taken out of FG range and resulting in a 10-9 Pats’ halftime lead

I think you may be correct and Wilfork seemed like a fun guy on the field and I remember him talking about that play.

The sweating it out till the end made it more enjoyable.....

I would have preferred a rout…😎
Tuck legitimately deserved the SB 42 MVP
