Probably our best chance for a W

this series. LGM!
Buck does not like Vientos at all.
Beezer : 6/7/2023 5:52 pm : link
And yes ... the Vogelbach thing is ... more curious than the Canada smoke. At least the smoke is explainable.
Remarkable stat
DanMetroMan : 6/7/2023 5:54 pm : link
Denyi Reyes has not recorded a win since 4/13/2022, a span of 22 appearances (18 starts) and dating back to winterball 2021-2022 is now 1-14 over his last 15 decisions
vogelbach is 5/15 vs morton with 2 homers and 4 walks (1.274 ops)
Eric on Li : 6/7/2023 6:31 pm : link
which brings up the question of why not start Vientos yesterday instead of vogelsnack instead of sitting him 3 days in a row?

if vientos sits after a game tying homer, and a key extra innings rbi, and several deep fly balls with crazy exit velo, why can't vogelbach sit after 1 extra base hit and 1 rbi?

as if vogelbakkk needed it, buck has put his thumb on the scales for the last month. if he doesn't reward buck with a big game tonight Eppler needs to just DFA him and be done with it. feels like we need a 'you traded pena' intervention here.

What they are doing to Vientos

Can it get much worse?
Oh no :-(
Optimus-NY : 6/7/2023 7:31 pm : link
I hope Pete's ok. Moron got him right on the wrist.
alonso gets hurt and comes out and they still dont put vientos in
Eric on Li : 6/7/2023 7:32 pm : link
pham pinch running and canha going to go to 1b. at this point im rooting for a vientos trade and him making them look stupid elsewhere.

if they sign shohei and get back something decent no harm no foul. but they deserve to look stupid because their handling of vientos makes the holderman trade look smart.
man does marte look like crap
Eric on Li : 6/7/2023 7:34 pm : link
he is swinging at so much junk out of the zone. would be thrilled to look stupid in a few months but he looks possibly cooked.

I read a quote
pjcas18 : 6/7/2023 7:44 pm : link
from Syndergaard where he said "I would give up my hypothetical first born to be my old self"

Has to be frustrating to an athlete to lose your talent, especially as young as he did.

Syndergaard, Harvey, deGrom all basically out of baseball or close to it.

Matz a JAG with ~ a 5 FIP and a 1.7 WHIP.

Wheeler outlasts them all.

I honestly don't know. Keith said it wasn't intentional, but it's still just an opinion. My first reaction was that it was payback for yesterday, but Morton's reaction seemed to be genuine that it was an accident. He was pitching him up and in though, so that part wasn't an accident.

Don't believe there was intent there. Pretty dumb to throw at a guy for a little chirping when your team got the last laugh anyway.

Wow didn't think that was going out. Another 4-1 lead. Let's keep this one tonight.
Pham must stay!

That's how you cement your position on a roster as a backup! Hopefully they hang onto their 4-1 lead this time...

And I’m sure he’ll make it a point to emphasize the Acuna and Harris catches as THE turning points.

No one thought they were going to win tonight, no one! And I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Verlander pitches well tomorrow and loses 2 - 1.
they've played so badly it's insane the braves only have 7 more wins
Eric on Li : 6/7/2023 10:19 pm : link
2 brutal losses. just finding ways to lose night in night out. buck catatonic in the clubhouse crying into vogelbachs chest like he's meatloaf.

we suck again!

It’s painful to watch …
Stufftherun : 6/7/2023 10:25 pm : link
I honestly don’t know how anyone can watch this team and not think they look like a compilation of gutless, lifeless losers. They’re so far from inspiring.

I know it’s early but it’s hard to imagine much changing, and let’s face it, they’re just not getting by the Braves with this squad.

They won’t throw all the kids out there but I’m probably not alone in thinking I’d rather see them go down with youth as opposed to seeing them trot out the useless, washed up vets.

Was this a joke?

It's not hard... play the most talented players. If struggling, give them a day and then put them back in and let them ride it out. Baseball is a game of ups and downs and the most talented guys WILL return to their mean.

That means..

Play Alvarez 5 days a week
Play Baty and Vientos 6 days a weak

No more of this platooning crap.

Let the talent ride.
Platooning has gotten out of hand
HomerJones45 : 6/8/2023 8:33 am : link
All over baseball. Some of these teams are platooning 3 or 4 guys every night. Honestly thought Buck was smarter than this. Vogelbach was never that good to begin with and is useless if not playing.

Vientos is mine boggling, and Alvarez. I can see if they had good options playing over them. Does anyone think Alvarez would even be up with the Mets if not for injuries?

But playing a struggling vet like Vogey should be expected? Not sure what he's trying to say here - Michael Harris was ROY last year and is valuable in the field and on the basepaths. Vogey is a one trick poney who is below league average in the only strength of his game. Harris has proven more in one season than Vogey has in his career.

A lot of managers must be shaking their head at Buck right now
Derek Jeter
Dr. D : 6/8/2023 9:17 am : link
Probably would've been riding the bench instead of beginning his HOF career and contributing to winning a WS in '96, if the Yankees hadn't fired Buck after '95.
