It'll be interesting to see how it all works out for 6'4" Bryce Ford-Wheaton. I was very surprised he went undrafted. I was also very excited we picked him up as a UDFA. He scored off the charts, I wonder why he went undrafted. Anyone have any insight?

He doesn't play to his timed numbers.
Exactly the type of guy you take a shot on, but his best hope is probably PS unless he stands out as a gunner (which he could).

^This. He had an 11.2% drop rate in college at West Virginia. A WR with his size and speed who can't catch is like a baseball pitcher who consistently throws in the high 90s but can't find the plate. Contrast him with Hyatt, who literally snatches the ball out of the air.

Maybe he just needs glasses. Worked for this guy...

Which is actually better than Johnston's drop rate. But combine that with the fact he doesn't play to his test times and you can understand why he wasn't drafted.
For Ford to make the team, or practice squad, he must find at least one thing that, not only is he good at, but better at than most other players. He has a lot of potential, but so far, he is only potential. He and the Giants coaches have until August 31 to find something that Ford can do really well.
For this year, there's a logjam of veterans: Campbell, Shepard, Crowder, Johnson, Smith. Even long shots like Sills, Mickens, Polk, and Pimpleton are probably ahead of Ford-Wheaton at this point, just on the basis of familiarity with the system.
He is the exact type of player to roll the dice on for an UDFA. Hold him for a year and see what he really is.

Eye-hand coordination is difficult to develop if you don’t come by it naturally. He probably has disgraphia too.
